Correct, this is the Marxist view, which is far more inept than billionaires running the show. The Marxist believes in equity, that is poverty for all. I remember a fable about killing a golden goose.
What I was suggesting is not even close to Marxism, but that’s 2025 politics. If you do not 100% fully back up my view, that must mean you are my arch nemesis and should be scolded.

Imagine a world where US citizens realises that there is something between right and left. It’s called “middle”. It’s in the dictionary.

Agree. And that shows one of the problems in the US; it’s either black or white, whereas 99% of everything is a shade of grey. Nuances and guts to think more nuanced, are completely lost.

Those two paragraphs appear to be contradictory. In the first you suggest that the tariffs will be in place long enough to compel long term planning by US companies (i.e., bringing manufacturing back onshore), while in the second you claim that they are a short term strategy. Which is it?
No they are not contradictory. The administration wants to make these tariffs permanent, but congress will push back. Ultimately, it will be somewhere in between and companies like AAPL will have to make long term plans.

Agreed. Apple can train the people it needs for factories in the U.S. But won’t, of course.
Apple probably can, but can they also train those working people in the USA to live in the US on the same salary?

The era of globalization is coming to an end, even if the opposition gains power in the US. Companies like AAPL will have to plan out their futures by negotiating with individual countries.

I hope everyone realizes that’s a poorer world overall, for everybody.

It’s a regression and not something we should be doing or aspiring to do.

I was hoping history would repeat itself, meaning the Chicago Cubs win the World Series again. (Within the first term of President Trump.) I never expected the tariff "bombshell". It kind of makes me wonder if his shoppers, I highly doubt he did his own shopping much less the woman who he was married to at the time, examined the "Made in" labels or tags.

What's wrong with supporting other countries? What if, God forbid, he has to have some sort of surgery or operation where he needs, let's see, a medical shunt put in. Will he ask the Neurosurgeon if all the parts of the shunt are made in America. (They are, I just looked it up.) If it gets to something that asinine and insane.

He's not supporting the economy when he goes to exotic places for vacations. So, when it comes down to it, he's basically trying to punish the "lower class" if they budgeted enough money to buy pricier things by making them more expensive.

Did he "play nice" during his first term to win America's trust? Now that he's been re-elected he's taken on the whole Jeckyle and Hyde personality? And his true agenda is to make everybody miserable because of all the price hikes he wants to impose on America?

If I remember correctly, he wants to make it where the current President holds office until the day he dies if he makes it past the initial four year term. (I've had a number of small (absence) seizures from somewhere between 2016 to current day, so I am a bit fuzzy. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
