Samsung vs Apple is pretty interesting.
Sorry, didn't know.
so exactly which publicly available iPhone ripped off a Sony phone?
They used this as a jumping off point. A place to assemble all the hardware needed to create a device that was basically all touch screen. When they had the right combination of hardware/software in place they put it all in their uniquely designed chassis. These pics are just unreleased prototypes from when the iPhone was still in its proof of concept phase.
It wasn't ripped off of Sony, it was a design that the engineer was told "if sony were to make a phone, how would it look like?", Sony never had a product that looked like that.
It would be like saying "design a phone as if BMW designed it" and them claiming it was a riipped off BMW even though they have never made any cell phones.
That article (despite the link bait headline) even says "Samsung believes the design was not directly stolen from Sony."
