Why do people not want some effort to go toward saving the environment?

However, to answer your question, probably 98% of MR posters are also shareholders, imo. :apple:

If saving the environment was the core reason they did this that'd be fine but Apple do so much to cause e-waste like soldering parts onto boards, not allowing parts to be easily replaced any more, pushing people to buy their AirPods with batteries that run out etc. This is about profit and always will be. They're a company after all and a thirsty one at that.

The way I view it, there is a balance between longevity and repair-ability and form and function. There are some trade-offs to be made. For example, a past iteration of the Samsung earbuds are supposed to score high in repairability. Some user posted a picture of a mangled earpod after Samsung repaired it. Without soldering the parts, my guess is that a device can have damage inflicted on it much more easily. Not to mention the cost to change the design and manufacturing lines and get people to accept new bloated models. It's my opinion, for example, the new M1 macbook, couldn't not be made as slim without soldering parts.

Why does everyone want to see APPLE getting richer and richer while cheating customers out of accessories they now need to pay extra for?

Does everyone on the Macrumors web site have a stake in the company or are part owners of the compony??

Dam.
I still mad that i bought an iPhone with no charger... they should at least give you an option. I previously had a nokia phone i loved and waited until it died, before buying an over $1000 phone with no charger... like, they expected me to have a fast charger? hello....

Your opinion is a fact, especially considering the memory in that device isn’t offered in an “upgradable” package. It HAS to be soldered to the motherboard :)

And, considering that soldering is “board+solder+chip” and not soldering is “board+solder+connector+matching connector+more board+more solder”, soldering to the board uses less materials per device.

Every company is a company. Some companies are recycling 100% of the aluminum in some products and some companies aren’t recycling the aluminum in any of their products. A company does not have to attain a magical level of recycling to be said to be making an effort.

Cut to an overly produced clip of some environmental czar/VP standing near some solar panels on top of the empty Apple Offices saying how great this is.

While I get and don’t necessarily disagree. It does sting when items are removed with no reduction of price.
It's just a friendly reminder that none of these business are our friends.

No they are not. But this isn't new news. As the buying public though, we have choices.
Seems like news, considering how many people think these companies owe us things. I just literally had a similar back-and-forth with another person a few hours ago, having to do with Nintendo taking down Youtube channels because the channels were using their copy-written work without their permission. It's like, no... they don't owe you anything. They are a business. This is what businesses do lol.

They’re not spreading FUD about anything in particular, instead they require companies prove that their products are safe, rather than saying “do what you like until we prove it isn’t safe, BTW we won’t investigate anything ourselves and will believe experts that work for you”.

Surely you’ve seen enough examples of why that’s needed, such as leaded petrol, asbestos, tobacco, neocotinoids, etc.

This is not equivalent. This is nonsense. I’m not one to believe we should just trust big corporations, but this mindset is so silly it’s almost anti-scientific. The radio frequencies these things put out are all around us, all of the time and have been forever with zero credible evidence of harm.
