These new Home Pods need to be $100 or less to be competitive.

[I snipped your post just to focus on this part.]

Why would a HomePod need to be less than $100 to be competitive? Who do you think the HomePod competition is at/or below a $100? Look where they priced the market segment With the HomePod with Sonos, Bose, etc. So you’re suggesting the HomePod should compete against the likes of the Echo or something in the price of $60-$80 range? I guess what I’m getting at, is that you don’t know the HomePods appropriate placement if you’re suggesting it should be priced below $100.

on a side note I don’t get the Siri hate. I’ve had little issues getting answers or requests done.

Genuine question... have you also tried using Alexa? If my only experience of an assistant was Siri, I’d probably think it was ok too. However as well as my HomePod, I have an Alexa in the kitchen and there is simply no comparison between the two. I guess it’s where some of the hate comes from. I love the HomePod, but Siri? Falls way short in direct comparison.

It could also be that 3rd party accessories are selling better than Apple's own products and thus Apple want the money to go to them instead of the 3rd party companies. Using homepod and airpods is a way of achieving that.

Have you seen the new Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H95? They look exactly how the rumoured Studiopods and cost 700 :oops:

Well.. Microsoft stores don't sell MacBooks, iPhones or iPads, Samsung stores don't sell MacBooks, iPads or iPhones. So seems natural that they won't sell products of their competition.

I tried to use a HomeDud for over a year. I had two of them. Good sounding device but Siri killed it. Day to day for simple play commands, it worked. Anything beyond that, a baffling amount of FAIL. The lack of control and interface with other Apple products like Apple TV, lack of options for control and command over other Macs in the house, a major let down. On top of all the Siri quirks of not being able to respond to certain basic questions. I switched to newer Google Nest Minis and it’s like a blindfold has been taken off. I’ll look at Apple again for such things but they need to get their crap together. For Siri especially.

Do you think those apple studio headphones will be superior in terms of audio quality than the new Sony wh1000xm4? And price point?

Apple has been working on the AirPods Studios for the past couple of years at least (rumours date back to at least 2018). The rumoured price is £349. They will be targeted to the high end headphone market. Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to sound, but i think Apple make great sounding audio (AirPods Pro, HomePod, MacBook Pro speakers all sound great to me). They will sound much better than AirPods Pro, but no one really knows how they sound exactly until they are released and reviewed.

HomePod is a great device.

Ehh....... It sounds nice when it works properly. Maybe 1 in 4 times the audio of my stereo pair is out of sync. My Mac can't play to it in stereo except in the Apple AirPlay apps, e.g. no Safari video.

So even within the confines of the Apple ecosystem it still has issues.

AirPods studio, sensors built-in, allowing for spacial audio.

Price £399.

Spacial audio is good though :)

I don't believe they will surpass sound and anc quality. The build quality may be better though and the price I think will be 449.

I never had any sync issues. Were you using a third party app? I use HomePod to watch AT&T TV Now on my Apple TV every single day and no issues so far. I did have out of sync issues during the early days of DIRECTV NOW, but that was a software issue as it was happening even when playing audio from my TV speakers.
It was with all my apps when playing video. iTunes (as it was then, I think), BBC iPlayer, YouTube etc. If someone can explain it works fine and was something odd with my setup, I may give it another go in due course. But I did read a fair bit on the net reporting the issue with no ideas on how to fix it.

We have seven HomePods in our house so then if we have a party you can play through all HomePods all HomePods

we have seven HomePods in our house and we used them to play all at the same time for music as we walk through or connect them up via Apple TV and have the sound coming out like a home theatre but you can use Spotify with the HomePod and not just Apple Music Hope this helps.
My understanding has been, you can use other services, but through Bluetooth, and not directly from the HomePod itself. Meaning I'd have to use the phone, or iPad vs invoking from the HomePod directly. (Unless Apple has changed that.)

My other reason for going with Alexa, and Google Home is for the compatibility with more smart devices. HomeKit enabled devices often cost more, and there are still a more limited selection, in comparison. For example the Wifi bulbs I use are about $13 per bulb, they only work with Google, or Alexa, or Geeni, Smart Life app(s). They don't have all the fancy features such as music sync, they may not get as bright in color mode as some others. They meet my needs though, and I don't have to pay the extra for things I don't need, or may never use just to have compatibility with one particular platform when there are cheaper options that work just as well for me.

Really though, the HomePod is simply Siri packaged in a stand alone device from the phone, iPad, or Mac. I feel If I wanted to evaluate Siri, or HomeKit, I could use one of my Apple TVs, or my phone to see if purchasing the HomePod. I would be buying the HomePod for sound, but for the smart technology. By the way, thanks for the response and feedback.

Like BMW has Mercs in their showrooms?

i have been in a bmw dealership selling merc's right in the showroom.

its not about having a competitors product , its about having the best product. you shouldent be afraid of a competitor being beside your product if your product is the best it will win.

easy.
