Just imagine how many people would leave iOS 11 if they could. Apple should at the very least give the power to the consumer to turn off updates from downloading and pestering users when plugged in and connected to wifi.
The only work around to avoid this right now is to block the Apple update server in router settings of every wi-fi network you own and disable wifi when plugged in for every other scenario. Not practical.
Or just install a tvOS beta profile.

Since Apple is still signing 6.1.3 for iPhone 4S I was able to revert to iOS 6.
It's so snappy and refreshing to look at. And checking for updates and iOS 8.4.1 is available as the next upgrade so if I update to iOS 8, app downloads will return in iTunes 12.6.4 and swipe up will return. That might be a nice compromise for speed.

11.1.2 is stable for me, and allows me to get rid of the home bar on the X. Stable as 11.3 may be, it currently doesn't allow me to do simple things that Apple decided I shouldn't be allowed to do.

I don’t have the X. I completely forgot about it when commenting. My experience has been positive with 11.3 on 7 Plus but I now understand that others still have issues.

This is one class action lawsuit I WISH would happen against Apple.
When Apple stopped signing 10.3.2, they had my iPhone replacing the battery. When I got it back, it did not have 10.3.2 on it anymore and I couldn't put it back meaning I paid Apple to basically disable all my 32 bit programs without knowing.

This should just not happen. It should have been my decision. And any person who goes through this situation should be able to put the OS they want on it.

This is exactly why I replaced the battery on my mom’s iPhone 6 on 10.3.3 at an indie shop. No need to wipe the phone. Just a new battery and done in 15 minutes while I waited for the same price.

A more practical way to block pestering OTA updates is to install TVOS beta profile on your iOS device. End of constant nagging yet iTunes updates are still possible.

This I don’t understand. Why can you install a TVOS profile on a phone? Isn’t it meant for AppleTV?

Yes it is meant for the Apple TV but if you install it on an iOS device, that device thinks it has the most up to date iOS firmware and stops bothering you with the OTA update. This is a way to trick the iOS device to stop pestering you with the updates.

Since it is a genuine Apple signed profile, it is perfectly safe too. Give finger to Apple using their own tool.

Exactly! Anyone who’s on iOS 11 would be crazy to be on any version other than 11.3. It’s clearly the most stable, the battery drain is gone and most of the UI glitches have been fixed. Same goes for WatchOS 4.3, tvOS 11.3 and macOS 11.3.4.
Until 12 rolls out. Then it’s back to square one for us guinea pigs

Unfortunately. It wasn’t like this in the early 2.0-6.0 era. Things definitely got much buggier from there. It’s crazy that they do the hard things like the transition from HFS+ to APFS successfully, but then mess up the little things here and there. There is no excuse for the “invisible” UI glitches when opening multitasking that plagued the earlier 11 releases. The stock mail app still isn’t as responsive as it was in 10 and previous versions. I have to open and close it several times to delete stuff. I may have to just start using another e-mail client.

I'm still waiting to be able to freely downgrade iPhone 5's to iOS 6.
I just did that for my 4S and then the next update was 8.4.1. Now I can transfer my app purchases to my computer once again directly from the iPhone.

I see why Apple stops signing the firmwares, but I wish they'd keep signing them. I'd love to downgrade my 6 Plus to iOS 10 since it was a lot more stable and there were a lot less bugs, I'd just wait for iOS 12 to be released.

I want to downgrade my iPhone 7 to iOS 10 and iPhone 6 to iOS 8. But Apple has my hands tied.

I'm sticking with ios10 as long as 11 ruins split-screen and runs like a three-legged dog in a four-legged dog race with only one leg.

with one of those cone things on its head.

and a tutu.

You get the picture.

Not sure if it was because of the iOS 11.3 update (I suspect so though I've read about others experiencing the same thing over a few years back), but I lost all PDFs I had (in iCloud) organized in iBooks. The sad thing is that they aren't part of the iOS backup done via iTunes nor iCloud. Maybe I had bad luck, but I recommend that you take a look in iBooks if you store PDFs there that are synced to iCloud. To back them up one has to do a separate maneuver that I think Apple should be more clear about: https://deciphertools.com/blog/how-to-backup-ibooks-pdfs/

For some odd reason Apple is signing iOS 6.1.3 for the iPhone 4s (and iPad 2) at the moment, but it isn't signing 8.4.1 for any devices so an attempt to upgrade to 8.4.1 won't be successful.
WiFi OTA iOS 8.4.1 update was successful on my iPhone 4S. :)

I bought a 8+ on 11.2.5 yesterday and I was thinking of updating it to the latest to at least have one iPhone up to date but then I would have to update my three series 3 watches AND I would not be able to pair them with my other iPhones running 11.1.2. I'm thinking of just staying at 11.2.5 so I can use the watches on any of my iPhones and I have paired them with different iPhones in the past. I've installed the TvOS profile so that I won't get any update reminders and forced downloads.

I still have two SEs, a 7+, 6S+ on 11.1.2, a 6S on 10..1.1 and is jailbroken, a 6+ on 9.0.1 and is jailbroken, an iPad Pro on 11.1.2 and a iPad Mini 2 on 9.1.1 that is jailbroken.

I have no plans to update any of these devices to the latest. I might try and JB one of the SEs just for the fun of it since I really don't use them.

Me too!!! after I noticed it slow down my phone I decided to go ahead and go back to 6.1.3 to me it’s worth it the snappiness is insane the differences obvious....

Yep, I did this too with an old 4S. 8.4.1 is a bit better on it than 9.3.5 at least. Apparently it works thanks to a loophole. Apple is signing 6.1.3 (again, not sure why but thanks Apple) for the 4s so you can roll back to 6.1.3 using itunes. Apparently you can't update directly OTA from 6.1.3 to 9.3.5 so Apple is also signing 8.4.1 for OTA updates only (i.e. you can't do it via iTunes). If only it worked for other devices too (I understand it works on the iPad 2 as well, but that's it).
