I object to apples naming of their betas (it might just be me reading the be numbers wrong) but to me ios 26.2beta means this is the beta of what will become 26.2 )ell 26.2.0) when released. So the title makes no sense since 12.2(.0) has already been released . Am i totally wrong here or shul the the titel have said IOS 26.2.1 beta 1 instead or is this just mr saving 2 characters in a title
It's the first developer beta of what will be 26.2. If they come up with a minor bugfix release after the public release of 26.2, that could be 26.2.1. The article title is correct. There are also public betas, by the way. The first public beta comes some time after the first developer beta, but it might not happen until we're on developer beta 2 or 3. And none of us outsiders can easily know how many versions are only tested internally. So it would be weird if betas directly affected the final public release number.

Be glad we're not using the internal build numbers. I'm on a version of iPadOS 26.1, still, and my build number is 23B82. If you want a number that increments linearly, that's probably the closest you'll get. But it ends up telling you even less than the version numbers. The B tells you it's for version .1, but after that, the number 82 gives you no clue as to whether it's a developer or public beta, or an internal only version, etc. Build numbers are how you would compare, say, a public beta 2 to a developer beta 4 to find out which one is actually newer, however.

Oof. I would expect the betas to be most rock solid on the new Apple modems they have been promoting the hell out of the last several months. How sloppy is their alpha process that they don’t catch this stuff before launching a beta?

Qualcom has been making cell modems for years and has more patents than Monarch butterflies on each model. So, Apple has to figure out where there is some daylight between the lines and design to fit into that space to not trigger a patent dispute.

Surprise! There are issues.

New software and hardware are going into new devices. What could possibly go wrong?

Apple just found out.

hopefully they fix the battery issues, i got brand new iphone 17 pro- it still get too hot even with vapor chamber inside house and battery is draining even with charging still running. it isnt gain any percentage compare to 16 pro max. i turn off the limit battery charge, and ai, still hot and draining bad. all background app refresh is off too

Everybody thinks this is an issue with the modem… it’s not. There was some glitch in the system that caused some phones to brick which is fixed with a full restore of the software.

I’m currently updated to the 26.2 beta on my iPhone air with no issues, over OTA.

Some devices just got unlucky.

This has happened before with betas before the C1 modem, and so comes the risk of that happening regardless when installing betas.

Being a beta, can expect these issues. However in the recent past there are issues with the final versions of the software and so, I prefer to update only after a few weeks of the software launch.
I’m even thinking about skipping iOS 26 entirely, and wait until iOS 27 is released before updating. Wish Apple didn’t bug me to update to death this year.

Just out if curiosity are you using wireless charging or pluging in a can,r. I've heard rumours wireless charging, tho convenience, heats the battery a bit more than traditional charging sich might nor be ideal for the battery live. No I'm not a Luddite apposed to change. i'll be the first one to adopt vireless charging the secund it does nit degrade the battery more than traditional
