I received a call from Austin TX today about my online order. Is this normal? They didn’t leave info on the email. Are they trying to verify the order? I called Apple directly and they didn’t seem to know what was going on. The number was 5126742000. Anyone ever encounter this?

If you get an unsolicited call and they claim to be whomever wanting personal information never give it out. If you think it's legitimate hang up then call a known correct number. So many people fall for scams like this

Update: not scam. It was a legitimate call. I ended up speaking with someone from Apple's main HQ in California because no rep could help. Apparently, Apple was calling to verify the order. The processes they normally follow fell through, and they will be reaching out to management in Texas to refine things.

Was going to say, I’ve had apple from Texas call me before to confirm an online order, was legit. I’m in Ontario, so I assume that’s just where they process orders.

Order somethings yesterday and did not get a call. I wonder what determines when you get a call. My order came to $300 or so, iPad Pro Keyboard, so maybe it was not enough to bother verifying.

I’m glad to hear it wasn’t a scam. Still it’s good advice to call them back at the number you know is legitimate. I get scam calls and texts at least once a week

Only time I did is when I had someone else as my pickup person (was cheaper to have them pick it up in another province and mail it to me vs paying taxes).

that’s why I had called the main Apple number. I’m just glad that it got resolved. Apparently I’ll still receive the item on time despite the two day delay. Apple shipped it via next day air to ensure it arrived on time.
