I get that they do this because it adds chatter and drives conversation, but in the year 2024 of our Lord, it just seems like an asinine and overly performative practice.
Yet, here we are, in this thread. Which means it’s an asinine, precisely as performative a practice as it needs to be for folks to comment on.

Once again, Apple demonstrates that they are utterly incompetent.

Not being able to update a website without taking it down for hours might have been acceptable 20 years ago, but it's inexcusable in 2024.

Hype you say? Just looks like they're really, really stupid to the rest of the world.

I too agree the whole store down thing is boring.

have the live stream and refresh the store when it's done. simple.

apple product reveals aren't as exciting as they used to be so all the drama is kinda silly.
It’s not so much drama, it’s that, every time they do this, their analytics show that the amount of posts related to the store being down end up being a large signal booster to folks in corners that may STILL not know that there’s an event occurring today.

Can't Apple hold the event without taking the Apple Store down? Do others take their store down before an event?

These events are usually later in the week, most commonly Tuesday. Surprised they scheduled it for a Monday.

They take down the website to build up suspense for new product launches. It has nothing to do with them being technologically inept. It's all about marketing! I'm surprised nobody gets that. If I was Apple, I'd do the same thing. Build up suspense then pull the curtain back and here ya go, the latest and greatest iPhone. Now buy one! I'm going to...Remember, Apple is a publicly traded company that has thousands of shareholders who want Apple to keep their profits high and their stock price even higher. That's how the game is played. So when you say that Apple doesn't know what they're doing; trust me, they do and they're good at it. They are one of the most profitable companies in the world right now, and since I am one of their shareholders, I am all for whatever dog and pony show they come up with to wow the world with their new products.

Why Apple!? I was going to order my iPhone 15 right now.
It is a norm for Apple to block off the Online Store every time it is the night presiding the Apple event, and before preorders of any product that is new. They also put products out of stock like accessories and iPhones that will be going to the discontinued.

I guess you need to take a trip to the Apple Store or your local carrier store to grab an iPhone 15, given the website is down. Many new and renovated Apple Store locations with a video wall in the back for Today at Apple also host watch party events for Apple events for both customers and employees to watch the Apple event and new iPhones

Currently watching the event on my ATV connected to my 1080p set. And everything is in PINK!

I have all the correct settings to 1080p SDR 50hz. So why is it in pink?

Good Lord, these apple announcements are becoming ridiculously saturated with superlatives and the people talking feel like synthetic androids,

What does the constant whining accomplish? Why are you even here? Are you telling us that you're a world-class web dev that can step in and teach Apple how it's done? Please reply with a link to one of your masterpieces.
