Apple store employees hogging all the gold iPhone 5s.

Am I the only one that does not/would not have a problem with apple employee's getting their hands on a new item first? It would not only help them get familiar with the device but would be a nice perk for the job they do. I've never worked retail, so what do I know.

Have apple take employee pre-order's when the item is announced so that they can get their own stock for only employee's. Seems like a no brainer for me.

I don't get it. Why the hell everyone and their grandma wants a golden iPhone? Even if they could have plenty of gray ones. I'd be fine with picking up whatever color was available. They all look good and are all the new 5s.

I was in an Apple store today getting my Mom a 5C, was talking to the Apple dude and he mentioned he was waiting for a gold one, but didn't know how long it would be until they had them in... and even then he would have to wait until there were enough that he was allowed to buy one.
