I can custom build it for you, give me your desired measurements and I'll send you a quote. Keep in mind, these are real maple wood, so they do cost more then "fake wood".

I think you have a pretty good business niche here. Could you shoot me an email? 'akarpo' at gmail.com

Awesome.

I own two square (six feet by six feet, conference style) apple store like tables in my office. They were custom made and everybody loves them. Wanted to show you guys:

Custom Built "Apple Store Style" Maple Desk Pricing

Hi to all,

first of all I hope this post will not be taken as a spam or advertisement, if its against posting rules I apologies, I am only posting this because some have showed interest in maybe ordering a desk from me.

I myself am a graphic/web designer and a happy mac fan (though sad now for our great loss). It was always my strong desire to own an "Apple Store Style" desk, I think they are beautiful in their simplicity and usability. Since Fetzer charges $3000-$8000 -depending on size- and quantity, that was not an option for my small order. So I approached a carpenter friend of mine and asked him to help me build them. The two 6 feet by 6 feet conference style desks costed us roughly 1500$ in material and 20 hours in labor. He would charge $45 an hour if asked to build one for a client. So, its not cheap, but it is still much less then Fetzer and just as beautiful. Now, obviously if someone wants a smaller desk, it costs less according to size. A normal -nice size- computer desk is 30 in high, 50 in wide and 30 in deep. The members who have requested info on pricing please email me your dimensions and I will reply with a quote. I will post the quotes here as well to give an idea to others if that is okay with macrumors.

My email is: smate333 @ gmail

Thanks for your interests.

Good luck, I too fell in love with the apple retail tables and couldn't believe the style wasn't available to buy, so I went the custom route and hired a talented furniture designer. His blog on the table might show you some tips:

Cost me $1800 though

I also tried the direct approach and asked fetzer himself, but he could only take existing tables apple no longer wanted and shave the legs shorter for use as a desk.

Oh and thanks that link is really cool I think I may make one over the winter, I'm not to shabby at the whole hammer and saw thing :D

:apple:

I think there maybe something wrong with the shortened link in my last post. Here is the full link:

the interlocking pieces on the tables are nice but i wouldnt pay 6 grand for that table. there are far better designs out there that are way better and cheaper.

Thank Guys for all the comments. It was a wonderful experience creating my room. Obviously not much is original as some might say I just ripped off the Apple Store designs but just for personal enjoyment and paying homage to a great man, I trusted it was a good thing to do. There is little cable management actually as this is one area I overlooked. But there is a length of wood underneath the desk that stops the desk from tilting that covers a good 12 inches down that hides the cables going over the back of the desk. I've still a little work to do to embellish the room such as the messy recess below the in-wall TV. But just enjoying the interim results of the past 3 months work for now. Knowing me I'll get bored after a short while and will do more to the room which doesn't necessarily mean adding "more" but most likely making it more simplistic. After all, my original intension was to create a room I could be creative and productive in. Thanks again and I am happy to share this with your all.

Power cable

Also I can get pictures of the cable management if anyone wants to see it.

Hi! I know this is an old thread but I would really like to know more about the power cable that is used in the table and in the floor. The brand of the recessed floor box would be a great help. Any pics of this floor box with the cable unplugged would be great too.

If there is an alternate but similar floor box brand that can be used please let me know!

Thanks in advance!

Cheap but awesome cable tray

I put one of these cable trays under a custom standing desk.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20171722/

It's huge — 4.5' long and wide/deep enough to hold my biggest transformers. I mounted a 48" lab style 16 outlet/surge bar to it so that everything is neat and hidden away. Best thing is that it was only $10. Easily the best return on investment in the $1200 or so I spent on my standing desk setup.
