Couldn't agree more - on both accounts. Come on, Anchorage has a Gateway Country, why couldn't it have an Apple store? Alaskans love Macs!

I would gladly fly from Juneau to Anchorage to shop at an Apple Store! Hell, I would move to Anchorage!

omg do not get me started on TCS  I walked in and asked them some question that they should have been able to answer, i forget what i asked, but what i do remember was them being like, well we cant do anything unless.... augh. bunch-o-pricks. :p

TCS is the absolute worst computer store I have ever been in. Let's hope for their demise now that Apple has two stores in the Seattle area.

I wish we'd get one here in Maine! I spoke with an Apple rep recently at a trade show and he said that they (the New England office, I guess) have been telling Apple for a while that they should look at Maine but, so far, no go. Since the state got so much media attention for our iBook program (heck, Steve himself came up for a media event with the Governor), you'd think that they'd get a store up here so that the parents of all of those 7th and 8th graders could get compatible computers for the home.

hopefully here in oceanside.. so i dont have to go 30 minuites to compusa  ...

Apple's Map

Has anyone noticed that the map of store locations at Apple's web site doesn't match the number of stores listed? There are too many "dots" in the SF Bay Area (the new SF store?), the Chicago Area (the new downtown Chicago store?), and in Florida (an unannounced store?). It would seem central Florida just might be the next store opening.

Apple stores in TN

I know that Apple has a store in Germantown, TN. (near the middle of the state) However, does anyone know if they are planning on opening up any in East Tennessee or closer to the Knoxville/Chattanooga Area. Thanks.

Apple Stores....

Perhaps this has already been mentioned on another thread, but I've found that it's easy for me to see a store is going to be put in some areas by cruising the Apple job opportunities on their website......

Of Course!

Hana, you are absolutely right! Should have thought of that one a long time ago! According to Apple's job listings they are definitely opening new stores in Seattle - University Village (had already heard of that one) and in Richmond, Virginia (news to me.) In these two locations Apple is looking for Apple Store Managers, so it is pretty clear even to an old dunce like me. They are also advertising openings for Full Time Mac Specialists and Inventory Specialist in Burlingame, CA; Boca Raton, FL; Santa Monica, CA; and Walnut Creek, CA. Some of these may be for resellers like CompUSA. Thanks for the tip.

i think it's bad that apple displaces other local retailers when it moves to another area. instead of training new, unqualified employees for the apple stores, apple should recruit from the existing resellers, and just give them any additional training they need. that way, fewer people lose their jobs, and the only person who complains will be the store owner. also, the apple store employees are known to refer customers to the resellers for difficult questions, because many resellers have more experience and are more knowledgable.

I don't have numbers, and am too lazy to find them right now, but yes Arn, Apple does well in Japan. In fact, Apple's marketshare in Japan is significantly higher than it is in the USA. Ever since Jobs took over, Mac marketshare in the USA has been at or below 5%, but there have been times in Japan when they have cracked 10% in certain market segments, like laptops, for instance.

There have been multiple occasions where a particular Mac model has been the #1 individual computer model in Japan, as well.

If I recall correctly, iPods have over 50% marketshare in Japan for MP3 players (or, at least, had that at some point during 2002).

So, anyway, I think Japan is really the best choice for the first non-USA Apple store.

Besides, Apple needs to start playing up the transparent multi-language capability of OS X, as it is one of the number one advantages right now of the Mac platform...especially with respect to Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Wow, i find this soooo funny because apple probably has almost as much market share as sony in japan :D
I really think they need to open a store up north, canada or alaska :D it would be my second home. suprisingly, there are quite a few mac users up here, and i think an apple store would do pretty good..our schools also are fairly techologicly advanced, and they use macs so education is a major market up here also.

Apple Store Opening in Delaware

The other day I was at Christana Mall in New Castle, Delaware and I noticed a coming soon sign for another apple store. To me in theory I think it is a good location since there are so many college's located in and around the area. I was wondering if anyone here has heard anything about it recently? It's a good thing though maybe i can get a job there and get some great discounts!

Today marks Apple's second aniversary of the opening of its first retail store in May 2001. This press release reports that 57 Apple Stores have been opened and that 20 new stores are planned over the next 12 months.

I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but this isn't exactly May, 2004. We're getting a little long in the tooth for this to be the celebratory month, you know?

KC

I was on the Plaza in KC and in the paper it said there will be an apple store, i saw construction, i think this is a new location

Mike, look again. This thread was started May 2003 not 2004. Someone resurrected the very old thread instead of using a much newer one.

Ya this forums suxs

I have to say you all sound like a bunch of dumb ass Microsoft geeks over there. "That is old news" I bet half of you who are all soo stuck up your ass live in the basement of your moms house. I just reported my finding while you just go and tear it up to shreads saying that it's old news and the same with Themacman's news too. By the way (Sayhey and MiketheC) that thread only said 14 new locations and no listings to where they will be at ass hole. This is why I hate forums cuz of people like you. dicks

Are you drunk? No one jumped on you. Relax and enjoy your store in Wilmington. And next time read what people post and count to ten before you post stuff like this.
