I got the 15 Pro in New Hampshire and as soon as I got it we were on the way to Georgia, Atlanta.
I had no time to do any transfers between my 14 Pro and the new phone. So, finally this week I got everything set and today went to Apple Store in Atlanta to trade in my 14 Pro…. and was sent back home with nothing. During the whole process of trade in in the store, mid way thru they got message on their screen that they are unable to do it and I have to go to the store in New Hampshire to have this done, because I did not pay sales tax on 15 pro. And the trade in value would have the sales added on my 14 pro I’m trading in.

Funny thing is that I did pay sales tax on my 14 pro in 2022 because I purchased it in Massachusetts. What kind of horse sh*** is this that Apple can’t figure things like that?

Manager of the store simply was unable to override anything for me and told me that either I go to NH to store or call Apple customer service to request trade in kit!

So, I decided that I’m returning the 15 pro because this is simply ridicules the way Apple has this setup and the headache of dealing is not worth of my time.
I’ll keep my 14 pro and gladly return the 15 pro I have been using since that Friday when they were released.

After I got home today I was wondering why they did not offer to simply do trade in to a gift card and then override this and transfer that value to my Apple credit card. But at this point im simply too upset with Apple because of those whole ordeal and not being able figure out that some states have sales taxes and some don’t and this could be easily adjusted.

Legally they have to give you back the sales tax on trade in on your new state, probably that is why there was no option to declare “client receives 0 taxes back and fine with it”.

The manager told me that because of me buying the phone in tax free state I’m illegible for trade in in Georgia because they will pay me more than what I should get (more= the tax on my 14 pro).
He was either clueless or simply did not care to understood the whole thing.

This was awful experience with Apple.

I have till Friday to return the 15 pro. I won’t be back to New England for few weeks so there is no way I can go to New Hampshire to have this done.

And I’m not doing trade in kit now because that requires calling their customer service and explaining everything again, even if it doesn’t make sense.

I mean even my hr gives me hard time for relocating within states even if i am fully remote. Has to do something with how they do their taxes. I also felt underwhelmed but it is what it is.

This is BS, someone the size and presence of Apple should be able to do this. When you buy in a no tax state and return it in a state with taxes, it will just refund the amount you paid.

I did this many times....buying in NH and returning in MA.( did it once in GA too) Did it with bestbuy, costco etc.
