Apple store inventory

Usually around 6 AM local time, I have sometimes seen it happen earlier (5 AM), but that's what I always saw when I was in Pennsylvania near a bunch of Apple stores.
I checked stock in PA out of curiosity and no luck in the 12 closest stores to Philly... but hopefully stock will replenish sometime this week! Maybe they'll take delivery of more, just keep an eye on it. I have definitely seen mid-day stock updates as well, it just seemed the early morning was the most consistent.I’m in Texas, it’s past 6 am.
A random store in NJ just got pink in stock, so definitely keep checking throughout the day in TX! Hopefully one pops up for you.I’m in Texas, it’s past 6 am.

Yeah you need to be lucky enough to check within a 5 minute window of it being available. I have seen a few pop up. One was either a color I do not want( green/pink) or too far away to drive for me. It would then sell out within 1-2 minutes after seeing it available.
Update: I scored a pair to be picked up later today!

Usually depends, as it can show stock available anytime of the day. I'll be picking mine up at the apple store later today as it's ready for pick up.
I would LOVE Space Grey. I actually preordered Space Grey and Sky Blue as I didn't know which one I would like better. I have a 12-week wait so one will be canceled.
However, I check the store app every 15 minutes hoping for an inventory that will never be filled.
Your success does provide much hope.
The 6:00 a.m. stock sounds right, but you may want to keep checking throughout the day. I know my local store replenished Macs, but I did not check on APM after I snagged a pair of Space Gray.
If your Apple Store has two hour courier delivery, you can have your APM delivered too. Worked for me.

On launch day I was checking at all different times (7am, 8am, 9am, etc.) and nothing was coming up. I even checked at 10am when the stores were opening and nothing. Finally at just before 11am I happened to check and all colors were in stock except for blue. I ended up ordering a pair of the green ones for express same-day delivery and have them in my hands a little after 2pm that day. Not long after I was able to snag a pair, I checked inventory again and everything was sold out.
I think it just all comes down to getting lucky with when you are checking.

Yeah, it's crazy. I am kicking myself for doubting these things were worth the price so I waited.
Now with all the extremely positive reviews, these have become the hottest items of the year.
And with just a week before Christmas, I can just imagine how fiercely people are trying to track these down.
Will keep refreshing the app. Have nothing better to do while quarantined.
Pretty much checking as often as I could. There really is no technique besides luck.
