If i see that an Apple store has the iPhone X in stock and i wanna buy the phone outright, there’s no way i can reserve it? I would just have to show up at the Apple store and be lucky that they would have stock?

Correct. In U.S there is no online reservation. You have to enter your carrier account info then pay first then select the time to pick up. If you check apple.com and they have something you want showing available for pick up, you can try your best going to the apple store before store opens.

Depending on the store, some set few aside for online pick-up and the rest for in-store walk-in's. Apple.com showed that the store across from my condo had a couple in stock, but quickly was out of stock. I decided to walk to the store 15 minutes before store opening and asked. They had Verizon 256 GB Space Gray. On their iPad, it showed that it had a green check mark meaning they have plenty in stock. Usually if they are low, then they have a orange marker with ~ symbol next to it and if they are out, it has a red circle with X on it.

Yeah you have to use the Apple Store App. If you just show up I would imagine all the available units that day would have already been sold and spoken for.

It won’t let me cause i have att and i want the Verizon phone

You should still be able to select Verizon. Try using the Apple Store app from an iPad. It won’t lock you in right away but give you the ability to chose carrier .

The problem is, OP has AT&T and doesn't have Verizon. OP wants Verizon model. However apple.com and apple store app for Sprint/AT&T/Verizon is going to ask for your carrier account info. OP doesn't have an account with Verizon so OP can't order it.

Too bad Best Buy is no longer selling full price X's. The xtra $100 may have been worth it in some cases.

Can’t he order like it was a new phone? And wanted another carrier? Or because he doesn’t have an existing account he needs to first establish a Verizon account ?

What he wants is a Verizon model to be used on AT&T network. Only way to do this is to walk into an Apple store and buy it outright as they don't ask for it there.

Gotcha. But just sayin right now I can go into the Apple Store app and order a Verizon version full price no problem. It’s letting me no problem, and I’m on ATT. It’s probably me lol but I don’t see any issues with ordering any phone straight out.

Did you go all the way to check out to the second “Continue”? At that point pressing continue again will bring up the Verizon info entry prompt.

As mentioned in other threads, the way some of us (on AT&T and T-Mobile) got a different carrier iPhone (Verizon) was to line up early on days where Apple Online shows green availability. Stores set aside separate stock for walkins. Usually they have around 10 Verizon 256 models total for both colors. Each person can buy 2 max, so recommend you line up by 8am or earlier if you live in or near a major metropolitan area.

Not sure how you are able to bypass this but even if you select Verizon model and choose to pay full price you are still required to enter Verizon carrier account info. No way around it.

I bet I didn’t go all the way.

Apple Store app on my iPad Pro 10.5” requires same Verizon carrier verification prompt to reserve iPhone X in store.
