There will be a credit card hold for the amount before you pick up. Once you pick up your iPhone, Apple will charge the amount on your card.

It's usually as soon as you place the order, or within an hour based on how most CC processing works. The authorization is intended to hold the funds and confirm you have the credit limit to cover it.
The status is still on order placed not processing that is probably why I haven’t seen anything yet.

None of my orders from this morning with store pick up show a hold on my apple card yet. I got my email confirmations.
Yes, I got my email confirmations as well. I just spoke to Apple and they said it’s 100% normal for it to be still on order placed because their systems are slammed right now they said by the morning it will be on processing if you don’t mind me asking do you usually order the new phones for in-store pick up?

as a data point,
watch and phone pre ordered with trade ins at two seperate local stores. once order was placed i got the auth on my apple card right then and there.
