I bought a new 2.3 dual-core powermac g5 off of amazon and 3 weeks later it died and wouldn't power up. I took it to the apple store to get fixed and they said it would be fixed in about a week and a half. Its going on 3 weeks now and I still don't have my computer back. Everytime I check on the status, either in store or over the phone, i get the same runaround answer, "the part was ordered and will be in tomorrow".

I am in need of a computer but not sure what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

tell them your story. See if corperate can't get things moving. 3 weeks is way too long.

From what I understand with past experience: an unreasonable amount of time waiting on a part for a repair can lead to them issuing you a new machine. But I think it is 4 weeks from what I remember, that is what one Apple rep. told me when I was waiting for a new logic board for my former refurbished 17" RevA PB. I then called them the day that was exactly 4 weeks from the day I started the AppleCare case # and they were great about it and cancelled the repair and sent me a brand new 17" RevB PB.
