Most of the work, at least labor, is done by foreign workers from places such as India, China, Pakistan, the Philippines, etc., who pretty much have zero status, rights, or benefits, while working there mostly for low wages.

I would guess it's somewhat comparable to an illegal immigrant working in the US with respect to status, rights, benefits, and wages? Except that they are there on a valid Visa, of course.

Yeah, and that visa or passport is often held by the employer in the UAE, for safekeeping of course, no coercion or anything like that...

Well, those situations do probably still exist, but it is against the law to withhold someone else's passport. In my opinion things are improving, but transparency is still somewhat to be desired. There are many things in the UAE that are illegal but some laws are more aggressively enforced than others. I am of course biased by actually living in the UAE, and no one denies that there is room for improvement, but westerner's ignorance (and ignorance about their ignorance) about the Middle East continues to surprise me.

[doublepost=1491335846][/doublepost]Please make that the "Michigan Avenue Bridge"... the "Michigan Bridge" does not exist in Chicago...

Also Dubai is not the most populous city in the UAE... Abu Dhabi is.

Who is fact checking here?

So a company lead by an openly gay man is opening a shop in a country where gay men are at best chemically castrated and at worst sentenced to death. Interesting.

So a country where it's illegal to be homosexual is legally allowing a company run by a gay man open up shop. Interesting.

I wonder if its related to money in both perspectives. Btw Tim can't just block the opening of a store that can make money, its a public company.. not his company.
