Does anyone know what models of the Air the apple store carries?

I'm looking for either i7 or i5 with 8gb ram, and the 256GB SSD (13" Model)

The apple website will show you if a speciic config is available in stock at a speciic apple store. You don't normally find 8 gb MBA in the stores.

The basic Apple Store Inventory includes base models only. Then in addition they may have other models randomly from time to time.

All I have ever seen is the base model, then some of the larger stores will carry what is called the "ultimate" model that is topped out with CPU, memory and SSD. I have not seen anything in between.

Yep, base 11, base 13 and fully loaded 13.
