Apple Store Taken Down Ahead of WWDC Keynote With iOS 18 and More

What a total letdown ☹️. Apple had the opportunity to shine and leapfrog the competition. Everything showed screams “me too”. No creative solutions, nothing. 5 minutes for the calculator app 😂🤣😂
 
Vision Pro non-US sales only, from the looks of it.
The whole store backend is linked, so all countries go down when most do.

it's a lot. it would take some googling but there was a store outage many years ago and i remember some comments in the press about how much they lose when the store is down - like millions of $ per hour. i guess you could do a fermi calculation but it's hard to know how much product is sold thru each channel (resellers/cellular companies, brick and mortar apple stores/apple online store).

here's a stab at it:

in 2023 apple had 383B of revenue which works out to $730k/minute total. if you just split that in 3 you get about $250k per minute. so in 1h45m they would lose $25 million in revenue.

I’d buy an appletv with an m4 in it as a gaming console.
 
Taking the store down is not needed, in my opinion. If Apple thinks it's needed for added hype, they are wasting our time with such antics.
