Sorry if this has been posted already. I searched.

Is it worth trading in my iPhone X at the Apple Store?

Thanks very much!

Right now apple will give $525 on a base model X. Selling it can probably get you $100 more. For me it’s almost worth just trading it in for the $525 to not have to worry about taking pics of it, posting it, dealing with people, shipping it etc. My time is worth $100.

I just got close to $800 for my X on eBay after listing it for a day. So I’d say not worth it.

Can you trade your series 3 watch in for credit towards a series 4? That would be sweet!

Exactly what this guy said. :)

Worth it?

As said, it depends on the person. Some want NOTHING to do with posting and selling elsewhere. Some would travel around the globe to get another $25.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply guys. I have a 256gb. I guess trading it in is the way to go!

I am trading my series 3 in online at the Apple Store. They have offered $225 which they are sending a prepaid box to send it back in. I idon't have to send the 3 back until the 4 arrives. Credit is applied to same credit card I used to purchase my Series 4 on. I guess the only downside would be I had to pay the full amount up front when i ordered the Series 4, but it's on a CC and the $225 will be credited by the time the payment is due. I'm very happy with trading it in at Apple.

Pros of Trade-In:
- Can apply credit immediately towards a new purchase
- No risk of being scammed / unhappy buyer contacting you after the purchase
- You know the value up front
- It’s immediate (vs. posting for sale, waiting for a buyer, dropping the price a few times, etc).

Cons of Trade-In:
- Lower value for your trade-in.
- Only store credit vs. cash.

How much is your time worth? How much do you value hassle-free / risk-free transactions? Only you can decide that.

Older phones like the 6 yes but no way im taking only 525 on a 256GB on a iphone x...That is just way to low

The only way the store trade-in is remotely worth it is if you have the base-storage phones. Apple does not give you any more for the higher storage models that you paid their huge mark-up for.

Yes, you can, but you mightn't be happy with the offer. I think it's only 150.00 for my base level gray WiFi model.

I am trading mine in for $225 (S3 SG Alum, cellular, 42mm). You keep the band and charger which otherwise you would have to sell for example on swappa. So, bottomline not the worst deal. However, I have also sold other devices in the past.

I took my old 8+ to Gamestop to get $374. Apple offered $400, but I didn't want to go ahead with the hassle of shipping it out since I bought my new phone directly from T-Mobile for their BOGO promo.

$525 isn't bad, but it feels like a nice sting after one year of usage. I would've held onto the X for at least another year myself because of the high cost. I have no interest in the 2019 iPhones myself.

I traded my series 3 watch in at the Apple Store yesterday for the series 4. I was immediately given a $225 on my CC and it was a pretty painless process and didn’t have to go through the hassle of selling. Plus I kept the band and charger which I wouldn’t do if I sold it myself. Worth it in my opinion

Traded In a SS series 3 at an Apple Store - got a credit of $250 instantly on my CC. I then called Applecare and cancelled the Applecare service (1 year left) - I got an additional credit of $23 - so $273, Kept the sports band, charger and cable. They are going in eBay for around $300 to 350 - after their commission and paypal's - definitely better value, time and experience trading it at Apple

Apple was offering me $525 for my iPhone X...I sold it for $800.

Apple was offering me $200 for my fiancé’s iPhone 7, I sold it for $350.

I sold both of these phones within two days. Apple is capitalizing on the convenience factor, if you’re willing to put in a little bit of work you can get a lot more money out of selling them yourself.
