I reached out to my closest apple store - and they didn’t seem sure.

I have the following items available with trade values

M1 Mac Mini
M1 MBP
2018 IPad Pro 11 inch
2016 MBP

Trading in these items would get me close to being able to purchase the 14 inch base model. However, the store wasn’t sure if I would be able to trade in these items at the same time to put towards a new laptop.

Any thoughts - and first hand experiences would be helpful.

You will likely need to do separate trade ins and receive store credit/gift cards to be applied to the new (separate) purchase. If trying to financing with an Apple Card, no clue how that might work though.

It seems a little odd to me that your local Apple Store wouldn't know how to do or even advise you about multiple trade-ins. I've done it before and each is a separate transaction put onto separate gift cards, which can then be used for your purchase.

Best recommendation is to do each trade in request at the trade in link above. Do each Individually.

I have 6 trade in kits coming. [Do NOT judge] this is not because I can't "afford" it. I just have too many devices. On paper the new MacBook Pro's are king and will be kings for at least 10 years.

1 device to rule them all.

if I take my 16" into store for trade in, do they automatically accept it at quoted price or do I have to wait for them to send it out and send me a $ offer? I dont want to buy a new Mac only to find out Apple decided to give me less $ for my MacBook after I already wiped it.

If your doing a trade-in in store you will get an instant trade in offer right there. A rep will take a look at it and evaluate it. Then you’ll get the gift card.

thank you. should I first call store to make appointment for this or is it walk in?

Make an appointment.

You can do the trade in online to get a quote. Just go through the motions as if you are going to buy online. When you get to part about trade ins, just follow the instructions. I printed out the quotes for my own convenience, but don’t assume they are written in stone.

Just make your appointment with stuff in hand. Get your gift cards, THEN purchase your new MacBook.

Mind you all of this is based on you wanting to do physical trade ins and aren’t financing.

another question. Currently apple is offering me $1210 to trade in the 16" 2019. Is this amount going to drop in January 2022 or is this amount going to stay at $1210 until new MacBook Pros release in 2022? How does the amount depreciate?

What is apple offering for the 15.4" 2019 for example?

That must have dropped. $1210? It's $1430 currently for the 16" 2019.

Do they fedex you a box to put your laptop or do you just take the laptop to a fedex location and they’ll pack it and ship?

Apple says $2120 for my 16" 2019 i9 64GB 4TB
Depends on the specs for BTO - for my 2019 MBP 16.0 2.4GHZ/32GB/5500M/2TB it offers $1,770. I always keep as spare used for light taks on a separate room - which would now be this one. Cash for your Mac is a bit higher. I am wondering if I am better of trading the 2019 i9 and getting a 14 inch M1 Pro with just 16 MB and 1 TB as my spare (The main one is now a 16" Max loaded) for about $700 extra. Probably a downgrade in some aspects. (would get it from B&H with their Payboo so they absorb the tax).

Depends on the REP you get - they usually say 1 trade in at a store per item (as many as you want by mail). However, when I picked the iPad mini I had 3 older iPads to trade and the rep agreed. If the store is not too busy and there is a friendly manager, they may just process all the returns.

does the 2019 feel kinda jerky compared to your new one when jumping spaces and using apps? I feel the new OS broke the intel MacBooks a bit.
