I bought my 11 Pro Max online through Apple for in-Store pickup at my local Apple Store. They were sold out of the sim-free model so I went for the Verizon model (expecting to be sim-locked for 60 days).

Popped in my spare AT&T prepaid sim and it works fine. (Of course it also works with my Verizon sim).

Details fwiw:
- Phone was paid in full
- I did NOT activate with my carrier during the checkout process

Perhaps only phoned purchased from Verizon are locked for 60 days.

Same exact experience here. Verizon iPhone but never activated during the process. I’m currently with Visible.

Not an iPhone related question but a question on Visible... How's your experience been? My mom is on AT&T with an Essential Phone and she's not a heavy data user and AT&T's pricing leaves a bit to be desired. Visible @ $40 a month goes great with her budget (she's semi-retired).

I will tell you it’s a coin toss but mine has been great! I had hotspot issues but found out that was related to an early iOS 13 beta (beta 2-5). Data speeds are heavily deprioritized but one reason being not enough data access points so traffic is constantly overloaded. If people would stop running speed tests 24/7 it would be a lot better.

But they have HD and Wi-Fi calling. Both work great for me. Hotspot is supposed to be limited to 5 Mbps but it hasn’t been implemented for everyone yet. Mine has been full speed but don’t really use it much.

I would use Visible’s IMEI checker to make sure that phone will work. There also might be a confirmation of that on their Reddit page. But for $40 it’s worth it, especially if they end up charging extra for full data speeds, us who have it for free will be grandfathered.

My phone was purchased directly from Apple, under the IUP, which is not supposed to be locked.
