Apple Store verses Verizon

I'm going to switch from an IPhone 5 to IPhone 6 in the next day or two. Should I go to the Apple Store or my carrier Verizon to make the switch? Is one better than the other?

Neither is better or worse. I went with apple because they had the inventory. The last time, I went with VZW because apple was out of stock but they had the inventory.

At this point, it's more about availability and convenience. Finding the size/color/capacity you want is the challenge. Get it where you can find it first.
