its anyone dude. its a ct law or something like that. i just bought a new mbp a few days ago and they did that for me but when i was in jersey last year i bought a macbook and they made me do the rebate stuff. So yeah its really great not having to buy both printer and ipod upfront. I'm not sure where you live but i think rhode island does the same, id call before first though, depending on where you live.

very interesting I'm gonna be going in to buy an imac next week. what store in CT does this?

I dont live in CT but I live close enough that it might be worth driving there to keep the $400 for the ipod and printer in my pocket instead of having to do the rebate. You don't have to be a CT resident or anything right? The purchase just has to be made in a CT apple store?

yeah dude exactly. have fun getting it! glad i could help

Its like 1.5 hours to stamford for me and I think Im going to end up making the drive to get the instant rebates...

I love walking around the Apple Store when I get the chance. But I buy on line since I know what I want and don't want to drive to get it.
We have two Apple Stores in San Antonio -- one clear across town which is a 30-minute drive through traffic and one half-way across town that is still a 30-minute drive through road construction.
I save the gas, order on line unless business allows me to sneek into one of the stores.

Sorry to bring the thread sort of off-topic again, but I was just looking at the fine print about Connecticut stores and found this:

"Residents of Connecticut and Rhode Island, and not residents of other states, can receive an instant rebate in the Back to School promotion by making an eligible purchase from either (1) an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Campus Store located in Connecticut or Rhode Island or (2) the Apple Online Store for Education or (3) Apple Telesales by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE to place an order."

Does that mean that if I drive to a CT store to make my purchase, they are going to check to see if I am a CT resident and if not, give me the regular mail-in rebates?

If your buying it for college as a student, check out the apple store. I was going to buy my MBP online and I had to put in the school I will be attending. The online store was only offering me a $100 student discount. Luckily, I'm very impatient so I just went to the apple store and bought the MBP and got a $200 student discount. You might want to check out both to see if they are the same or not.

I like ordering online so I don't have to deal with the idiots that work in the store.

just bought my imac in stamford, CT yesterday and had no problems getting the rebate up front. they even looked at my NY license and still processed everything. got a free ipod and a free printer, with rebates taken off up front.

You mean to tell me that student discounts are not the same at each store? Which store did you get the $200 discount?

I don't think so. For the online store, you need to select your college and I put in the University of Tampa and it was only a $100 price difference from the original price of the MBP. It changes the prices in the store automatically once you select your college. When I went into the Apple Store, I was told I get a $200 student discount and they just looked at my acceptance letter. I went to the Apple Store on 9W in the Palisades Mall in NY.

well i'm going to college in nyc and the discounts are exactly the same. i think they just take off more for the pro because its a lot more expensive.

That is probably what it is. I haven't looked into it since I already have the computer.
