The only retail website on the whole planet that needs to go down to add a product or for maintenance.
It kinda hyped people up, didn't it?The only retail website on the whole planet that needs to go down to add a product or for maintenance.
Yep just noticed that. 2 hour courier delivery depending on your zip code. They added a 2 hour delivery option.

Order by 7pm, delivers:
- Today within 2 hours – Fastest
- Thu, Jul 18 – Free
For me it's $9 shipping. One dollar more than express shipping that won't get the macbook pro to me until July 17th.Is there an additional fee for this new 2 hour delivery feature?
I think Apple Card as well.Someone suggested Apple Card, and the timing on that sounds right. Don't know why that would need the store to be taken down but I guess they may have to update their backend purchase processing scheme to support it or something?
I don't think so, because it's still shows the "Notify Me" option on the front page.I think Apple Card as well.
More likely like a glitch? Around noon on a weekday in the US seems like a bad time to schedule maintenance.I don’t expect anything nee-maybe the site is under maintenance?
And Apple has strategically placed servers in the US and around the world to be sure they stay up. (with solar farms and other green sources of power!)No other website is as sophisticated as what Apple offers, or has to cope with the insane demand apple.com receives every second of every day.
How often does Apple.com suffer an outage? Practically never. That's because they've built something that is incredibly reliable, scaleable, and performant.
Apple's Apple Store online site is currently down when attempting to make a purchase of an Apple device or accessory, but it's not quite clear why the site is unavailable.
Sometimes the Apple online store goes down due to an imminent product refresh, but at other times, the store becomes unavailable for routine maintenance purposes.

Apple last week introduced refreshed MacBook Air models and a new 13-inch entry-level MacBook Pro to coincide with this year's Back to School promotion, but there's no word on whether another new product is on the horizon.
Apple could potentially be planning an iPad refresh as five new iPad models recently popped up in the Eurasian Economic Commission database, which could be a new 7th-generation low-cost iPad, but it's not known when that device is set to launch. It may not be coming until later this year, and this could potentially be a situation where Apple is doing site maintenance.
We'll update this post with more info when the store comes back up.
Update: The Apple Store website is back up and there doesn't appear to be anything immediately new, suggesting this was a maintenance update.

From what others have stated, I think they added a new 2hr delivery option for select postcodes(?)More likely like a glitch? Around noon on a weekday in the US seems like a bad time to schedule maintenance.

What do you have, some kind of alerting app that tells when the store goes down?
That’s the problem I had...tried to stay on iOS 9 on my 6s as long as I could but way too many apps started ditching iOS 9 and forced me to upgrade iOS. My battery has never been the same...I used to go 2 days on iOS 9 now on iOS 11 and now 12 I barely can get to 5pm before it dies.my old iPhone is forever on iOS 9 so it makes no difference to me. The Apple Store App long ago was forbidden using the Store App & recently Apple barred iOS 9 from visiting it's online store (which is absolutely rediculous). So in the future, if I want to buy something from them- gotta call them on the phone. 1-800-we don't care
Do you really think Apple would plan and perform maintenance in the middle of the day?I don’t expect anything nee-maybe the site is under maintenance?
I doubt it. The Apple Card is just a MasterCard credit card. As such, it can be used to make online purchases either through Apple Pay or by providing the actual card details (in which case the card details are stored in Wallet instead of printed on the physical chip card), both of which are payment methods already supported on Apple's website. Therefore, no additional specific support should be needed for the Apple Card that would require taking down Apple's website. I believe it was just down for maintenance.Someone suggested Apple Card, and the timing on that sounds right. Don't know why that would need the store to be taken down but I guess they may have to update their backend purchase processing scheme to support it or something?
Well...what else could it be? there was nothing new when the website came back online. Either it was in maintenance or it was overloaded by traffic.Do you really think Apple would plan and perform maintenance in the middle of the day?
