Apple Store: Why they don't have any chairs for customers?

I don't understand why Apple doesn't have a seating area to sit down on a chair or stool so customers can test the MacBooks or the iMacs.

How many of us stand while typing or working on a computer? At the Apple store, or at any computer store for that matter, you should be able to sit down so the screen is at eye level instead of standing and looking down at the monitor. Now, I am not talking about the tables that have stools for costumers who are picking up or dropping off their MacBooks, or the area for children with a round table and small chairs.

I know it's about saving space and keeping foot traffic moving in and out of the stores, but i am in a bind now. I bought a 13", and now I am asking myself if I should have bought the 15"?

You mean like Best Buy or OfficeMax/OfficeDepot?

All of the stores should have tables/stools for where they do their One-to-One customer training lessons and personal setup. These tables/chairs are the appropriate height for sitting and comfortably using a Mac for extended periods (hour+) of time.

If you bought from Apple, they have a no hassle 14-day return policy. If you want a 15", return the 13".

Maybe I just don't notice them, or may because the stores are so crowded there is nowhere to sit.

I suspect (though I could be wrong) that they move them when it's particularly busy.

I was in an Apple Store yesterday and there wasn't one in sight (apart from the tiny, round things the kids sit on) and it was absolutely heaving in there (apparently a new iPad has been released!) ;) I have also been in store and seen people sitting on the side areas where the MacBooks are on display.

Last summer I went in to pick up something and a chap was finishing off a logo or design on an in store MacBook. He was sitting down and worked away for quite some time and wasn't bothered or disturbed by anyone. It's something I've mentioned when talking to my Apple-hating friends when trying to explain just how different the Apple Store really is. :)

Maybe you could suggest some extra seating to the staff. Politely of course. And if they care enough, they'll accommodate your request.

If they made it too comfortable you'd never get rid of the internet dwellers who don't favor the local library.

I think the one in Pittsburgh in Ross Park Mall has stools. I haven't been there for awhile but I'm pretty sure they do.

Every Apple store I've been to is about the size of a shoe-box...I'm not sure where you'd put chairs

(or maybe it just seems that way because they're always so busy)

My local Apple store (San Francisco) is much too busy for chairs, they even got rid of the ipad kid station. Only at the training tables, and service counter do they have them.

My local Apple store has stools at the Genius Bar, the display tables, the table where customer training is done, and small benches at the kid's table.

Granted, not the most comfortable accommodations in the world...but good enough.

They have stools at the Genius Bar and One to One tables. Would be cool of they had a few for other customers to use though. The other option is to sit at the One to One tables while there are no sessions going on. I've done that a few times :D I browse the web and play music and hope a One to One member notices and sees I have a life :p Right, I'm off to watch crap TV shopping channels now :D

Ask a Specialist if you can borrow a stool to sit on to better get a feel for how you'll actually work on your new Mac. This isn't terribly uncommon, they would more than likely grab one for you assuming they can find a free one.

Maybe you have to walk over to the genius bar waiting area. Every time I go to an Apple store for a genius reservation and I have to wait a bit, I sit down at a table and they have MBP's that I browse on while waiting.
