    Hi everyone,

Apologies if this post doesn't belong here, but I was strolling past the Palo Alto Apple store tonight and noticed there was a sign saying they wouldn't sell iphones because ATT was upgrading its network. Is that a common thing, or might it suggest something (e.g. new model) is about to happen?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    Interesting.
Sounds weird, you took a pic by any chance?

Of course he didn't take a picture. That would be too convenient for us.

Could it be as simple as AT&T is down in that location (just for afew hours I'd presume) and a working connection is needed to verify your contract before you walk out of the store?

    BINGO
Not so much that AT&T network was down… But they were doing system upgrades. So no access

    Happened today here in NJ.

Walked into the apple store at noon with a friend to buy a 3GS and they wouldn't sell it to her cause "the AT&T activation network was down".

So we walked to the AT&T store, bought a new 3GS without any issue. I asked the AT&T sales rep about what apple told us and he said he had no idea.

Within the next thirty you should see supply constraints on iPhone merchandise. There will be some sales to push the stock levels down if they're deemed too "high" prior to the announcement of the next model.

Not exactly related, kinda close though.
