Starting today, April 24, Apple Stores around the world are giving away a special pin for free to customers who request one, while supplies last.

The enamel pin's design is inspired by the Global Close Your Rings Day award in the Activity app, which Apple Watch users can receive by closing all three Activity rings today. The limited-edition pin is the physical counterpart to that digital award.

To receive the pin, simply visit an Apple Store and ask an employee about it. We were able to receive the pin without having our Activity rings closed yet today, so that does not appear to be a requirement, but your mileage may vary.

Given that Apple says the pin is only available while supplies last, keep in mind that some stores might already be out of them.

Here is what Apple said about the pin in a press release:
To celebrate Global Close Your Rings Day, customers can obtain a special pin inspired by the award. Customers can pick up a pin at Apple Store locations worldwide starting April 24, while supplies last.
The original Apple Watch launched 10 years ago today, on April 24, 2015, so the pin is a tiny momento of the anniversary.

Here is what Apple Watch chief Jeff Williams said about the 10-year anniversary:
Apple Watch has changed the way people think about, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health. A decade ago, we introduced Activity rings — and since then, Apple Watch has grown to offer an extensive set of features designed to empower every user. People write to us almost every day sharing how Apple Watch has made a difference in their life, from motivating them to move more throughout the day, to changing the trajectory of their health.
If you received the pin, feel free to share a photo in our forums.

Depending on how the stores are distributing them, they might last quite a while...

While I've read reports of some stores actively handing them out — one even said an employee was standing out front with a bag giving them to passersby — I went to the Yorkdale Apple Store in Toronto this morning at around 10:30, and the pins were nowhere in sight. I eventually asked an employee, who was happy to go to a nearby drawer and fetch me one, but she was surprised that I even knew about them. Of course, that could change later in the day...

Local Apple store is about a 20 minute walk for me which is nice, curious if they have any of these or will say they're only for people who purchase a watch.

I was told the pin was only for people who bought an Apple Watch today. I suspect I just got the wrong store clerk 😅
Wow, probably... I didn't even have to say I owned any Apple products. I just asked for the pin, and she was happy to give me one. She even gave me an extra one for my daughter (she was hesitant at first but glad to do so when I said it was for my daughter).

Gamers: Let's crash the Internet trying to preorder a Nintendo Switch 2

Apple fans: Gimme that limitted edition Apple pin!

I kind of want one, but don't want to spend the money to Uber to get one.

Is the pin just a physical version of the award you get in the activity app or one of the stickers you can use in the iMessage ap? Apple's release says if you close all your rings you get stickers to use in iMessage, but also a special badge to use in messages. Aren't those the same thing? confused.

The fitness iMessage stickers aren't described by VoiceOver, so I don't know how many I've earned from the limitted edition challenges I completed when I had my AW series 5.

My Specialist told me it was for anyone who made a purchase today, but then snuck away and asked a manager, and came back with two pins saying he must have had the wrong info.

If your store refuses to hand you one, just pull up the newsroom article that says you can just go in and pick one up.

Yeah, that's precisely what it is. Standard lapel-pin style, with a butterfly clutch on the back.

I can't find the post right now, but someone said they tried that earlier today and was told the newsroom article says they're for "customers," which meant they had to buy something.

Hmmmm, interesting that it's not magnetic. AI apps don't give me a super elpful description when I run a photo of the pin through them, but it's cool to be able to do that at all.

This year we got the special anniversary bands that @mikedis posted and water bottles. Those who also participated in the Apple Fitness+ challenges received custom made anniversary workout mats and this pin is the last one with some events taking place at Apple Park as well :) In the Bay Area the pins were gone by 11am. There was a big queue at Apple Park Visitor Center as early as 1 hour before opening with people waiting for the pins 😂
