Now thats like next door.. no wait...

Hehehehe.... I now feel proud to be Canadian. The store is like next door... actually wait, it is not! Eaton Center is comfortably downtown, that is good. I probably will visit it. However, Yorkdale? Well, maybe when I go to Costco. Need to find some better reasons to go to Apple Store. Anyway, I am happy. I am sure they will spread to other cities in Canada soon.

Maybe we could send Dubya to Canada for a while to learn about compassion and tolerance.

No - Don't send him to us. I think send him to Haiti to learn about what happens to inept, undemocratic presidents, or better yet, send him to outer space to learn about oxygen deprivation.

Montreal now has the iPod treatment

As of this morning, Montreal's McGill metro station has been iPod themed with ads on booths and turnstile.

Why not just go to B.Mac?

I do. But i'm not always happy with the service. Sometimes its great, other times not so great. Plus the B.Mac stores are in crappy locations.

Why wouldn't they put it in Montreal and Toronto instead of what ever other crappy city it was in, given that Montreal and Toronto or the two bussiest cities in canada.

as far as putting one in Montreal although i love the city, Quebec laws are some of the most ludicrous that i have come across ... a company would be insane to try and deal with them right of the start ... thats what you get for being a "distinct society"

Edit -- just wanted to add the that best apple reseller that i've dealt with, service/support and all around pluses has been light computer center here in Hamilton

I live in Quebec, I am a french speaker... and I have to totally agree with you. Those language laws are there for a good reason but I think that most of the time, they do more harm than good.

But I'm not sure it will be that hard opening in Montreal, considering that they also already print all their documentation in french. They even offer a French Canadian Keyboard layout.

my father is a vet here in Hamilton, Ontario, and his friend is one in Montreal and they both own they own clinics, and when they compare it seems like Quebec business owners are incredibly oppressed --- i don't think the language laws would be a problem, but i recall him mentioning that many financial aspects are highly regulated, and controlled --- tax laws, ect ...

Sweet! I live within walking distance of Yorkdale! Too bad the extension to the mall isn't due to open until Spring of 2005 tho!

No one....OK, I will just keep on going to London Drugs.

I found Carbon's service to be sub par... They seemed a little clueless on what should have been a simple repair...

Don't beleive they're expanding as much as remodelling.

They've got a massive hole now where Eatons/Sears used to be, and they'll likely chop that up to contain smailler stores.

There's not many takers for that kind of multi story department store real estate anymore, and Yorkdale is too "high class" now to consider someone like Walmart, who'd probably be the only company interested in making a play if the price was right.

Believe it or not, but there used to be a Kresgees/K-Mart, a Dominion, and a Home/Pro Hardware in that place...

They *are* expanding... The old Eaton location is being tunred into new floorspace and they are going to run an extension from it across to the arm that contains the HMV. Thus the old Cineplex Odeon area will turn into new internal mall space.
If you go by the mall and look at the mall's map it shows the expansion area...

LOL! Totally slipped my mind that 2010 is 6 years away!

Ok, so how about this: Athletes the world over trying out the newly announced G7 Powerbooks and the 1 TeraByte iPod "250,000 songs in your pocket!"

I think Vancouver's well served by Simply Computing. Some of those guys have been selling Apple computers since the original Apple II. They got serial numbers 150-200, I believe...

Simply, Westworld, Macstation, we've got a bunch of 'em down here I guess... Macstation is pretty wild, they brought in a real living breathing Jaguar in for the OS's release!

Apple Store in San Francisco

This is kind of off topic, but today I walked past the new Apple Store that is opening here in downtown San Francisco on Saturday. As I stopped to look in the window, I noticed standing beside me was Steve Jobs. No joke. I guess being a "flagship" store and also being so close to Cupertino he gets involved in the openings. He was giving orders to the guys still working on the construction on the outside. It looks like they will barely get the place done in time, although the inside looks ready to go. Of course he was wearing a black top and jeans. Does he wear anything else?

The funny thing was I had just bought an iPod Mini from down the street at CompUSA. Bought my gf a pink one last week -- they are awesome, and I love it much more than my 30 gigger.

Anyway, here's hoping he travels up to Toronto for the opening!

EEsh. The Eaton Center is a stankhole. Why would they open up in there? And Yorkdale? Ugh.

Though I'm happy they're opening in Toronto, I expected something classier from them than those two malls.

they need one in winnipeg, EVERYONE forgets winnipeg now days, back 60 or so years ago, winnipeg was #3 in population in canada, and 2nd most influencial city in canada, right after toronto, times change 🙁
if there ever ends up being an apple store in winnipeg, it should be in the downtown area near the famous corner of portage and main, and winnipegger burton cummings should be at the event to provide non-mac related entertainment, i heard hes a mac user 🙂

WOOO toronto!

Im like 15 minutes away from Yorkdale and my school is very close to the eaton centre.... too bad i wont be able to use my student discount there though.... 🙁

Ahh well.... U of T computer store sells plenty of apple supplies at pretty cheap prices.. we'll see how things turn out 🙂

and i dunno bout the eaton centre, but dobbs, Yorkdale is one of the higher class "malls" in the city next to bayview village (if you're an old lady or a millionare that is)

Yorkdale has great stores... and even better looking girls all over the place 😀

awesome news

Go Poco!

They should put it in Coquitlam Center near Vancouver, its being expanded as we speak, or Metropolis, BCs biggest mall and 2nd biggest in canada (after west edmonton)

I live 15 minutes drive from Yorkdale. I'm going to seriously hit that store up for some sweet stuff if they ever open. Even if I never buy anything, I'll still go to the Apple store each and everytime I go to Yorkdale. 😀

(man, I need a girlfriend....)

They don't have any space at Coquitlam Center waht are you talking about?! they wasted all their space on a T&T market! 😀

Coquitlam Center is a business, and the owners have the right to lease space to whomever they think can put a succesful business in there.

It is called free enterprise, and is a well understood principle in Canada. If they choose to lease the space for T&T to a chinese food store, how is that not a Canadian thing to do?

Multiculturism, remember?
