Apple stores not receiving rMB on Friday?

A few weeks ago I called three Apple stores in my area and all stated they would have the rMB for sale tomorrow - 4/10/15. However, today I called two of the stores to confirm and was told the rMB would not be for sale tomorrow in their store. I called the third store but was on hold for over 30 minutes.

I also spoke with Apple customer service and both reps I asked said the rMB will not be available for purchase tomorrow, Friday, in the stores. They would only be available for pre-order online.

Anyone else manage to speak with the actual Apple store to see if they will have the new rMB for sale on Friday, April 10th?

I guess they don't want all that mess around to spoil the in store Apple Watch try ons :D. Im sure they are figuring being cheaper... The apple watch will have more hype and interest? And they want to keep the MBR for online purchase only?

Nobody is going to be able to give you an answer to this question reliably. The stores don't know. The others on here have no way of knowing.

Yes, of course no one here knows 100%. However, people can call their Apple store and ask :confused: No harm considering there seems to be major confusion in regards to when this machine is actually launching. I have never seen Apple announce a date and then it be wrong.
 
I went to the apple store today to return an airport express and I asked if they were going to have the macbook in store tomorrow and he said with a definitive "yes".

I guess I should have asked whether they were just having floor models or ones for sale that day, but since I'm waiting for more info about the 1.3GHz chip, I'm putting off buying one for another month or so.

This is the store in La Jolla, California. I don't know about others but the guy was pretty quick and definitive about them being there tomorrow which makes me think they got the shipment today or before today.
 
I posted my experience below in another thread less than 2 hours ago... It doesn't look good for tomorrow:

"I'm not saying that the following information is correct in any way, but I just visited one of the bigger Apple Stores here in Canada (Toronto Eaton Centre, it's even on the list of Apple Edition Watch stores released earlier today) and the "specialist" at the front of store was 100% insistent that the MacBook is NOT available tomorrow, only preorders.
Again, I can only stress that I'm not saying that this is correct, but he was really adamant about this and it is possible that this is a Canada-specific situation or that he is just plain wrong. I'll know when I show up there again in 15 hours I guess."

Of course the "stores" know. Maybe a rep here and there is not in the know. Do you think that a shipment of laptops shows up in the AM without anyone expecting them..? Obviously they are prepared and plan accordingly.

Yes.. So I didn't ask if I could take one home. I just wanted to be able to see one physically tomorrow or in the following days. I think my wording was "Are you guys going to have the new macbooks out tomorrow?"

So, I can't say anything about the inventory, but if you want to brave the crowds tomorrow at the Apple store to see the new Macbook (at least in the US since I don't think my Apple store is something special), you'll likely be able to see it.

This... I'm sure they are doing a big remodel on the store tonight an I'm sure the macbook will have a place in that reoganization. The hardware doesn't just get beamed on the tables at midnight, somebody has to unbox them, set them up and display them.
 
Same with the apple adviser I chatted with today...strange thing is, the store told me that they can't tell me for sure..

I don't recall hearing that they were going for sale on the 10th. I belive that was just the start of pre-orders and in store displays. Did they ever give a ship date for these though?

Apple said they were shipping on the 10th.
 
UPDATE: just went to 2 stores in the SF Bay Area. Both stores got their stock at 3 pm for sale tomorrow.

Thanks. I already had a Friday morning date at the WC store. Good to know I won't be disappointed.

It would be a shame to have moved all those meetings around for nothing!
 
I think a lot of what we are hearing at stores has been trained as part of the "online initiative." My local BB confirmed they will have stock. I can't imagine that any BBs would have stock if Apple Stores had none.
 
It may be different here in Canada. I called my two local Apple Stores in Ottawa. Rideau said they were told that they would not have inventory coming in today for sale tomorrow. Bayshore said they had not heard from HQ at all on when they would have them.

I called Apple Canada directly, and they couldn't even confirm a release date. they couldn't even confirm that it would be available tomorrow online.

It seems like the MacBook is being forgotten in the wake of the Watch.

I wish they/she wouldn't give out such vague info and would state how this new process actually works. Will we order online to find out we can pick up in store the next day or that it will delivery on "x" day, or with it be the generic 2-4 weeks like we see with iPhones? Apple definitely knows, if they want to ease customer anxiety as well as line, let us know as well. This just screams of trying to generate as much artificial buzz as possible.

Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order. You’ll make their day

What would make my day, as a customer, is to know before launch if these are exclusive to online or not. Let us know if they are limited ahead of time.

Why not offer a pre-order for the laptop as well... Its better to know we pre-ordered versus thinking we are getting one that day. Makes understating the wait much easier.

+1. Going to a BM store and being told that they can't sell me what I want and that I can order it online instead would absolutely NOT make my day. Ever.

Maybe I'm dumb but I don't understand how you improve retail customer experience by not selling things in retail stores.

I was already finding the whole Apple Watch sale setup weird, but if all this speculation about the macbook is true, it's both stupid and completely screwed up from a communication standpoint. And so fr from the usual Apple.

they starts SHIPPING on 10th, but they never said they will be available to be purchased IN STORES on 10th, so it's likely that you can only order on 10th, and they will ship same day (if you order early enough i guess)
