I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience returning an item to the Apple Store that might help answer this question: I bought (online) the Magic Mouse and, very sorry to say, I don't like it. I'm sorry, but going from a Logitech MX1000 to that, it's just way too uncomfortable for extended periods of time. I actually have not even used it at all - I just held it in my hand. So if I return this, will I get a 100% refund or am I going to be charged a xx% restocking fee?

Thanks.

How the hell do you know that it's too uncomfortable for extended periods of time if you haven't even tried it?

They accept it back within 14 days, as long as you pay a 10% restocking fee.
Just try it out, at least, so you don't waste some money sending it back.

I figured someone would say that. The fact that it is not at all sculpted to your hand ... and the fact that it's so low to the surface that half your hand is on the mousepad ... I just cannot possibly see it being comfortable for extended use. If it is uncomfortable after two minutes, I'm pretty it will be more uncomfortable after 30 minutes.

Alright, well... each to their own.

The restocking fee only applies to computers and ipods now. No fee on apple branded or third party accessories and peripherals. 14 day return policy applies.

iPhone uses AT&T's 30 day return policy, no restockign fee.

There's also no restocking fee on computers and iPods in UK stores, only in the US! (not sure about the other countries)

Are you sure about that? The Apple online store still lists a 10% fee for opened items and it seems to still apply to peripherals, Apple branded or otherwise. From their return and refund policy;

....For eligible Mac, iPod, and third-party products, you have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return. Personalized iPods (e.g., engraved or customized in any way) may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless such product is Dead on Arrival (see the section below for more detailed information on such Dead on Arrival products). If the item is returnable and you send it back to us unopened in the original box, Apple will offer you a refund based on your original method of payment. You must return the product to the Apple warehouse within 14 calendar days of the issuance of the RMA. All products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging including any accessories, manuals, documentation, and registration that shipped with the product. Apple will assess a 10% restocking fee on any opened hardware or accessory.....
