Nothing screams "unprofessional" like a t-shirt. The new head of retail needs her head examined.

Whatever. I'd rather the people who work there be comfortable and easy to deal with than have them dress to some old-fashioned dress code of having a collar on their shirt. Training is more important. How many crappy experiences have I had where everyone is dressed like a "professional" but has no idea what they're doing.

Wait there is a time limit to Genius Bar Appointments?
I'd like to report that I have never been asked to leave or I have been taking up too much of their time. They are usually happy to talk to someone at my store as I guess helping people fix problems all day can be a bore.

It's probably like any other tech support job, it's not enforced against you personally, it's enforced against the employee. If he's not getting people on their way fast enough (averaged over all interactions he has in a given period), then he's the one who has to fix it. That might mean retraining, it might mean he rushes you on your way without quite everything taken care of, it depends.

I did read the article, and no it doesn't appear they're fixing it. When I go to the Apple store this is what happens. Let's assume I have an appointment for 5:30pm.

  1. Arrive at 5:25 to check in - I'm told someone will be with me right away.
  2. 5:30 - no one has yet to help me.
  3. 5:45 - still no one has yet to help me
  4. 5:50 - finally being helped - (I dropped my iPhone in the toilet)
  5. 5:55 - Genius agrees to swap my phone out (says it'll talke 5 more mins)
  6. 6:00 - still no replacement yet.
  7. 6:05 - dude arrives from the back with my replacement.
  8. 6:15 - out the door and on my way home.

Something that should literally take 10 mins ends up taking almost a full hour. Ridiculous.

Every damn time I go to the apple store this is my experience. My appointment was for 5:30, I expect to be talking to a genius at or around 5:30 (I'll wait till 5:40 cuz I'm nice like that).

If getting your phone you dropped in the toilet serviced at an Apple Store is sooooo inconvenient
You could go through your carrier. They send it out and days weeks later, you get your replacement.
If you have a non-Apple phone, they do not have stores where you can walk in, walk out with a working phone
Those have to be mailed in for service. Repair/replacement can take days or weeks
So much entitlement.
Show some gratitude.

Thanks for the response on a 3 year-old post. Much appreciated.
