is receipt needed when going back to apple for a replacement?

i.e if i was to buy a used 100% Genuine strap from ebay and it became faulty, would Apple replace/fix it without a receipt?

im assuming they will but just wanted to check if any o fyou had any experience!
 
It depends on the sales associate I suppose. Generally speaking you need proof of purchase for any warranty work but with Apple's great customer service they may replace it w/o the receipt.

I guess you have to try it and report back to say whether it was successful or not.
