Apple should drop the price on the PowerBeats, too. They sound decent enough for the gym but only if you replace the ear tips with 3rd party memory foam, so that adds another $20 to the price.

I keep reading it as “beats ten”.

Question is what kind of sound improvements can we expect from up coming refresh product ?

Means nothing if they sound exactly like last year‘s models.

There is much need for improvement besides sound quality though that would be good too. My main qualm is the stupid power button. It’s difficult to find by feel, difficult to press, difficult to know if you pressed it, difficult to know whether it’s on or off unless you take it off to look at the light (it only makes a sound when it connects to a source, not when it turns on, but if the device you last connected to is not around then it makes no sound). It’s infuriating. To solve all of this all it needs is a sliding switch. It may not be as “sexy” as an invisible button, but at least it’s functional.

Other issues:
- the play/volume/Siri controls should be on the neck base, not the wire. When I’m running, the controls bounce around and pulls the ear bud out of my ear.
- I’d like double the battery life. I use it all day while at work and frequently run out of battery. It has a neck base so it can afford a bigger battery.
- not sure if the technology is there but I’d love to be able to stream from multiple devices simultaneously. I’m constantly switching between my work computer and my phone all day.

Hoping all or most of this is addressed in the next version. I do like the form factor and the advantages of Apple’s W chip. Though in my opinion there are still too many taps and long presses needed to switch audio accessories.

Sold them a while back and bought AirPods. Haven’t looked back. They would only fit with the ear hooks, which makes the package even bigger (doesn’t fit the included case) and the neck band is annoying. I guess for very specific use cases they would be superior to AirPods, like running? Going truly wireless is still just magical.

People have different definitions of what it means for earphones to "fit" when using. Their definition appears to be more relaxed where Airpods are concerned.

Could you please give me some feedback regarding the sound quality and phone calls. I like my BeatsX due to noise isolation which helps with having phone calls in noisy places, watching videos during flights and listening to music outsideİ however, their mic doesn't seem to be as good as the mics on the AirPods. I have no idea how AirPods sound compared to BeatsX though.

Are the beatsx any better for running? I have AirPods but they fall out. I have tried ear hooks and a tether and it haa not helped.

Can’t bring myself to buy these as they will need a battery replacement and I’m not convinced that will be available in 5-10 years, making them seem disposable.

I actually think AirPods sound better, but they're open-back so there's no isolation at all. Don't make a lot of phone calls, can't tell you much about that.

As in AirPods fit perfectly, don't fall out, and BeatsX without the wings don't stay in at all?

I had my 1st pair fail on 1 side after 13 months. I looked at alternatives because I didn’t feel they were robust enough. Eventually bought the red/black version anyway as I couldn’t find anything as good. Begrudgingly paid full price about 7 weeks ago and now they go and do this! No doubt to add insult to injury they’ll release something in their place that are much better.

I wanted to like these so bad. Total garbage sound quality. And Im not some audiophile. Airpods blow these things away by a factor of 100

I feel the complete opposite as AirPods do nothing for me. In my experience, nothing beats in-ears for sound quality and I've had a few. If these sound bad then perhaps the fit of the ear buds isn't good and not creating a tight seal? At any rate, we all hear differently so it is what it is.

Well, I still really like my BeatsX. Even though I would like a little longer batt life. But 8 hours and charging with lightning for 2hrs play time in only 5 mins is not bad. I would never trade them for the AirPods and actually rather bought a spare BeatsX pair as I strongly prefer in-. (Never paid retail price though)

I like my Beats X, which I got when they came out. Works great. I like the sound, as earbuds go. I put Comply foam ear-bud covers on them, which are very nice. :)
This, they stay fine with the foam although the silicone worked fine as well.

I love BeatsX, well over a year with them and they hold up quite well.

I kind of want the gold so maybe I can find one before they go poof.

I dont know I wanted to love them. But they were very tinny. Couldn’t get them to fit better or sound good. Tried giving them to a family member and they said the same thing without me mentioning my issues. Sorry AirPods dont work for you.

The old colors are on clearance at Target for $74 bucks.

Best Buy has a few on clearance as well. Bought a gray set last Sunday but I'm returning them today. I don't like that they practically function as ear plugs, blocking out all outside sound.

I'm not a fan of the beatsX for walking, let alone running. The cord makes a loud sound any and every time it brushes up against any article of clothing and it's really annoying.

Those are microphonics and can be quite annoying. Some headphones/earphones do it more than others. I blame the BeatsX cables that are IMO longer than they need to be, leading to more opportunity to bang against something when walking or running.

That would be the purpose of in-ear earphones, to block as out as much outside noise as possible to maximize acoustic benefits. When I'm commuting by rail or traveling on airplanes it is the ability for earphones to reduce outside noise by as much as 23dB that I seek. That and much better sound IMO from earphones that seal well. Also, volume level does not need to be as high as non-sealing earphones. But yes, they are indeed not for everyone, whether it be too much blockage of outside noise or the discomfort of sticking earbuds into one's ear canal.

I'm personally very happy with my Beats X. I bought them on amazon for ~$100 last year, and I've been rocking them since. They provide relatively great noise isolation.

For the next version (2), the three things I ask are:

1. Official waterproofing (tbh, it does stand all my workouts, so far)
2. USB-C (instead of lightening)
3. Even better battery life
