My new Apple Studio Display makes a faint noise when content scrolls on the display. I noticed it when the room was quiet, but it is audible if you listen with an ear close to the display.

Does any one else's display make a faint noise when scrolling?

I cannot hear anything when scrolling. Like @velocityg4 mentioned, it has cooling fans, but I can't hear those either, even with my ear right by the exhaust vent up top.

The Studio display wasn’t designed for you to put your ear close to it. It’s not surprising that you might hear faint sound if you do.

ozthegweat is correct. I first noticed the sound while scrolling in a quiet setting. That's when I put my ear closer to the display to confirm the source of the noise. It's definitely not the cooling fans. It's almost like a coil whine sound.

I can hear a subtle noise from the side/back of my display (like a pretty fast ticking sound?), but only when the display is not at full brightness – I can reliably produce the sound by turning brightness down. Apple Support says not to worry, it‘s „electrostatic sounds“ ?, yet I still wonder how common that is.

I'm going to return it and try a new one. It's audible in a quiet room when scrolling sitting a normal distance from the monitor.

Same for me. While srolling (dark content) you can hear it. You can hear it more with Safari than with Firefox (same website).
