Tried this combo today, with no expectations of it working. Color me surprised! And sound works as well :)

At first, the ASD seemed to have a little trouble, appearing to display a ~720p quality image, with not all screen elements rendered. After I unplugged it a couple of times, it seems to work fine and at 5K resolution. But I'm not sure how to verify resolution. Brightness control via the Steam Deck has no impact. But it appears to be using a fixed brightness setting from the last compatible Mac that you plugged it into.

Does sound from the ASD speakers work? I'm guessing it does not

Thanks for sharing this! Does it still work for you? I only just got my Steam Deck last week, but I can't seem to get either screen to display anything, even without any peripherals plugged into the monitor. I'd love to try to get this to work if it'll help me use Desktop Mode without a second monitor setup.

Yes, still working. You can't use the included Apple cable, you'll need to use a 3rd party Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cable.

Thank you! This ended up working for me, but not in Desktop Mode, unfortunately. Gaming Mode works great, though. It doesn't seem to let me use the keyboard that I have attached through the monitor, but I'll try later on with a dock of sorts and see if that does the trick.

Desktop mode didn't work for me either. It's been a while since I played around with it, I don't remember if keyboard worked.

Awesome! Just got my Steam email today. Does the monitor charge the deck too?
