10,000 deaths so far this season in the U.S. alone. And counting.

180,000 sick and hospitalized. All ages.

Is there really such a big panic over in the US? You people watch too many doomsday Hollywood movies. 😄

exactly! Corona kills 400 people and the world goes banana and yet flu KILLS more people every year and noone seems to flick an eye. I don't get it.

Death rate of about 0.1% overall.

But there’s no vaccine for this new Coronavirus, and it is estimated to be anywhere from 10-50 more likely to result in death than the seasonal flu. More transmissible as well, and with a longer (communicable) incubation period.

Zero panic here.. just stating facts. I don’t even get a flu shot lol
You might want to reconsider that. Sure you’re healthy now and it’s no big deal, but when your 60+ years old, you will have missed decades of vaccines to various flu viruses that would be very protective. Even if not completely preventive they can be partially effective. It could be the difference between a more mild case vs. ending up in the hospital.

I think some of you missed the point on the original poster I quoted. Obviously this new corona virus is much stronger than the average flu. And yes there is no vaccine, yet.

The point another member was making was every year the common U.S. flu kills tens of thousands and it never seems to strike fear in anyone.

I was just stating facts not comparing viruses.

Apple's supply chain is not like a watch, oh no. There's currently more than one month estimated delivery time on a custom configured Macbook Pro 16 inch.

Yes, killing 1 in 1,000 doesn’t seem to strike fear. But 1 in 50 does.

2017/18 was a pretty bad year for seasonal flu here in the US, with 60,000 estimated killed. If it had been the Coronavirus spreading instead of influenza, it could have killed over a million.

This would be the equivalent of saying "You gotta come into work, we don't care if your sick, but we're falling behind"
