I just received a call from a rather confused sounding Apple representative. He wanted to "check in" on the status of my dual 2.5 G5 that I got in September 2004. I have not reported any problem that he might have been following up on and I am a little confused by the call (especially since he just kind of rambled on about the machine and, rather incongrously, asked me what field I was in). I asked him more than once if there was a particular issue that I should be aware of, but he repeated that he was just checking in.

It was as though I received a prank call with no humor or punchline. I would chalk it up to Apple trying to provide good customer service and support, but the caller was awkward and seemed unsure of himself.

Has anyone else received a call like this?

I called you. HAHAHAHHAHA After we hung up my and my apple nerd friends died laughing. Then we told our online girlfirends that are over seas right now on photoshoots. They loved the story. They said they will tell it next time they are on the Tonigh Show promoting their new TV show.

i recieved a call like this for both my iPod and my PowerBook. They were just calling to make sure i was happy with them and that there were no problems. Also since I didn't buy applecare for either of them they were trying to sell me that, and asked a few questions about the "usage" ... ipod was like "how many songs do you have on it?" "how many hours a week do you use it?" "what was the last song you listened to?" etc. nothing to be concerned about, sounds like the guy who called you was just.. out of it or not the type who enjoys talking on the phone much.. a phone phobia :p

I had one ages ago.

It's just them doing research on how well their machines hold up and the problems people might have with them.
