This still doesn't mean they will call it the "iPhone 5." I like the idea of calling it the new "iPhone" like they did with the iPad.

i dont cause the ipad 3 is not that much news than the ipad 2.. its better but not big enough jump to tart the damn all over again...

I'm still not sure why everyone thinks the sixth generation iPhone is going to be called the 'iPhone 5.' The people at Apple would have had to be dropping extra LSD to believe they could actually make people believe it was the fifth iPhone.

Or perhaps like the Apple II, they aren't acknowledging the existence of the first one.

But if Apple themselves (the best people to know their own naming scheme and whether or not they want to use the number to refer to the generation number) thought of the 4S as the iPhone 5 because it was the fifth generation, why wouldn't try acquire it when the 4S came out? Either because they don't identify 5 with 5th generation or they believe the majority of people will refer the 6th generation as the iPhone 5. Unless you have another explanation?

Let go of the straw.

Because 5 comes after 4.

Big companies always stomping on the little guys. Disgusting.
Are you one of the little guys?

The next generation iPhone will be called "The New iPhone"
However, the iPhone 5 will be reserved for the 87th generation iPhone.
Apple realizes that iPhone 87 isn't as appealing to it's less intelligent audience who can't count that high, therefore, they are limiting the usage of high numbers in their products.
