Amazing we haven't seen any leaks of it yet! They must already have manufactured a million of these.

We've had pictures of employees wearing them. We've had pictures of celebrities wearing them. Tim Cook has showed off his at multiple events. There's tons of ads showing it without anyone wearing it.

The only thing we haven't seen is a blurry picture of a partly assembled one. I imagine the reason we haven't is because we have plenty of pictures of fully assembled ones.

We'll start seeing pictures of it in various states of disassembly as soon as iFixIt has their hands on one, I imagine.

The expensive gold will probably be available.

I don't know much about things that are priced as status symbols, but I would think that though they sell in low volume, you try to keep them in very low volume to ensure there's high demand for it.

If there's too many of them floating around, they're not status symbols anymore.

amazing how cheap and plastic the sports edition looks compared to the one on the right. it's like wallmart vs hublot

I disagree on both accounts. The sport watch doesn't look that cheap to me and the SS one doesn't look that expensive or refined.

It'll be interesting in line when the $349, $599, $1299 watches go on sale... the sport and stainless will be sold out... with a few gold available.

Will some of the desperate buy the gold one just to have one on launch day? (I'm saying something like $1299, because that is 'reasonable' for the gold content. No way it will be much more than that)

I suspect it'll be a hell of a lot more than that. If Apple really do want to go after the high end watch market they'll price accordingly. After all why would you go to all the trouble of sourcing around a thousand dollars worth of gold per watch plus the cost of the strap, components, shipping, manufacturing etc to have a profit margin roughly equivalent to a Dell PC? Suspect the Gold watch will be in a totally different class with the steel models being the step up 'high' end for most users.

Anyway, wouldn't surprise me at all to see an April release. Apple are being very cute holding the event right after the switch to DST in the US and I suspect that might result in a slightly longer window between event and launch. Plus they may want to give themselves a longer preorder window in case demand isn't quite what they hoped. Also wonder if they'd consider doing something different this time round, maybe a 'hands on' area in flagship stores for customers to try on and see these devices before pre-orders go live?

There will probably be only .5 oz of 18K gold in the gold watch... about $500 worth. That's about the weight of the entire exterior in solid gold. All the rest of the watch are the chips, sensors, battery, etc. which bring the weight higher.

Health and IRS medical tax deduction

I wonder if purchasing the Apple Watch can or will be viewed by the IRS (USA) as a medical expense if its health applications are being used for monitoring heart rates/blood pressure/health activities etc.

My secondary Medical Insurance covers the expense of my Athletic Club fees and the monthly fee I pay for the secondary Medical Insurance is consider a Medical expense by the IRS.

Things such as Walkers and Wheelchairs are also considered legitimate medical expenses and auto mileage to/from Doctor offices is also.

So, will the Apple Watch be considered by IRS much like it does for Walkers and Wheelchairs etc ?

If they are officially announcing on March 9 then it seems they are ready to go. Launch an entire month later one one hand gives lots of time for consumer eduction and pumping up the hype meter like the original iPhone.

But launching on the 27th allows for Easter gifts.

Other question is will Apple launch on a Friday or just start on a random weekday. I don't think this one is going to use the iPhone playbook.

Who gives Easter gifts? Isn't Easter about giving candy to kids and adults getting together to eat ham and drink alcohol? Too bad the glucose sensor likely won't be ready by then. :D

Supposedly the gold edition was noticeably heavier than the steel and aluminum versions, according to those at the September event. Most guesses have been about 30 grams (just over 1 oz) of gold, consistent with other gold watches.

There might well be $1200 worth of gold in it. It's going to be very expensive. $5K minimum, IMO. Maybe $10K or more. A Rolex has "only" about $1200 of gold in it (if it doesn't have a gold band).

The modern and classic buckles for the Edition also have gold trim, while the sport bands have gold pins.

Here is what some jewelry experts say. They think $6,000 or more is reasonable, given the amount of hand-crafting that will need to go into it.

Waiting to hear how much this costs so I know how many shares of my Apple stock I need to sell. Hopefully it keeps going up until the announcement.

Que the Chinese lady interpreter. No worries, I have been practicing.:D:p

Ha, yeah, that was really annoying at the time, but pretty amusing in retrospect.

Still not excited by the watch, but maybe that's just me. I'm sure it'll sell like hotcakes.

Apple can't keep iPhones in stock, and they've been making variations of it for years.

All watch models will go on launch day. I'm buying at least 3, maybe a few more to resell on eBay.

Doubt it very seriously. First of all there will be limited monitoring. First of all there will be no blood pressure monitoring, at this time there is no way to check blood pressure without some sort of cuff that inflates. No where has anything said that the watch will do this. From what has been said it will only track steps and heart rate. I don't think that justifies a medical expense.

Easter isn't my holiday but when I was growing up all my friends got a nice easter gift. Maybe things have changed, I don't know.

True, actually just realized as I read your comment. We saw a lot of rumors and predictions, but no leaked images at all. This time Apple really doubled down on secrecy.

What would be in the leak? Its already been shown on stage, on Tim and in ad's. Not being snarky, just curious what a leak would show other than more of what they have already shown us.

You're joking right? Why should we ever see leaked iPad or iPhone parts again as we already know they will be part of an iPad or iPhone...and these can be used for surfing the web or doing phone calls...

I heard that it will work with a third party glucose monitor. My guess is you might be able to deduct that as a medical expense, but don't try justifying the Apple Watch Edition to get you over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. Ask a tax accountant, but the common sense test says the Watch is a personal expense.

Ask your doctor if the Apple Watch is right for you!

This is how I name all of my devices from Apple:

iMac - iMac
MacBook Pro - LaptopMac
iPhone - PocketMac
iPad - MacTab

Say hello to WristMac!

No way. That would be an utter and complete disaster for Apple. It wants to sell as many out as possible as fast as possible. There might be supply constraints but it will be a week or two maybe, not months.

Look at the supply constraints that has happened with just about every single iPhone and iPad. Hell, even some models of the iPod.

The iPhone 6+ was shipping in 3 - 4 weeks within hours of pre-orders going live. It was also like that for a few months.

The cost of the SS model will determine a lot. If it is too expensive than the sports model will be hard to get. Without a doubt I can see slow deliveries for the first two months.

Awesome! I can't wait to not get one! :p

Just kidding. This is cool for anyone wanting one. I definitely don't want one, but I am excited to see what surprises they might have for it.
