does the iPad Mini require iTunes 11? i cant find anything about it on the product page and why hasnt there been a beta? thats so strange

--

id rather see something like spotify, i cant deal with those "radio" things, they never play what i want and i just keep hitting the next button :D

On a side note me too =D every time I listen to a radio on TuneIn radio I tend to hit the next button only to remind myself that it's a radio.. :apple:

Ill conceived internet radio service with ads? I know, they could call it "Pong" or uh, something!

HA. Whatever.

If I wanted to listen to advertising-supported radio, I'd listen to the FM radio.

Having the major labels signed on to this means that they will have some say in programming I bet. In other words, it will be a bunch of Top-40 shlock. So it will be exactly like the regular radio. Only now I get to pay for data-usage to receive it.

Really, the whole reason I don't use the radio in my car anymore is because of the music format on most of the stations and the ads, and I can just hook up my iPod and get great music ad-free instead.

If this is advertisement supported, this better be free.

And where's iTunes 11?

Just about everything posted on this website is a "first world problem". It's sort of pointless to point that out..

As to the topic at hand - Apple should just leave content services to 3rd parties. It's not their strength. Between Spotify, Pandora, Rdio and many others - the world does not need another music steaming services.

I never understood this "first world problems" thing. So, what? Everyone has problems, first, second, third, or forth. And people's problems are all relative in nature. And besides, last I checked, I'm sure people living in 3rd world countries are happier, at least compared to wealthy people living in the US. These "first world problems" contribute greatly to the clinical depression and anxiety we have in our current society. And it's only becoming worse.

Someone in another thread got this email:

Just got this by email:

Could be related as they roll out iTunes 11 as they wouldn't want anything going wonky on the store side.

Still an hour for the window to close. Maybe something later today early tomorrow?

Apple will do it better than anyone else. That much we do know. Once Apple launches this, I will immediately cancel Spotify and move over to iTunes Pass.

I would say tomorrow or Tuesday. iTunes needs to be updated for the iPad mini which is available the 2nd.

Most likely tech sites have gotten review units at (or shortly after) the announcement and could very well have been given iTunes 11 copies as well.

I know it'll never happen, but adopting a Spotify business model would be awesome.

Amen. Spotify has some great advantages, namely me spending much less per month than I was before. You find one album you like in a month and you've spent at least $10. With Spotify, I can load up tons of random stuff, use the radio feature, etc. I would prefer to own my music, but right now I'm broke.

Ad-supported radio? Really? With the network's data limits and charges?

I just want a Spotify-like service, though let's face it, that's some years off (if ever).

If Apple wants a Spotify-like service, it's easy.

Spotify pays 70% of its revenue to the record labels. (aka $7 for every $10 from its monthly subscriber).

There are also Rhapsody, MOG, Rdio, Deezer and many others. All of which pretty much have the same pricing structure. Buy one of these and Apple could be competing with Spotify directly the very next day.

Pandora's Box Can't Be Shut or Can It??

While tech Goliaths like Microsoft and Apple are trying to dominate the online music space the true story is the trend; young people are opting to get their music in online streaming format.

As wifi and mobile phone plans experience Moore's law it is only a matter of a few years before the mp3 goes the way of the dinosaur and vinyl. YouTube has long ago realized this and they are leveraging the fact with their API which has enabled websites like fuhshniZZle to build streaming apps around the YouTube API that are YouTube Music centric.

YouTube has cut deals with all the major players for revenue sharing and is courting new artists and becoming a viable alternative to the traditional label. We live in exciting times for multimedia and it will get far better as technology continues to obey Moore's law.

The simple reason why Apple Music Pass will be a huge success is it's just another extension of the Music app. Apple has 400 million iOS users. 30-40% will automatically want this and will gladly pay $10/month or $100/year to get streaming of 30 million songs from the music app.

----------

Count me in for an iTunes Pass subscription for $10 a month. I'll cancel Spotify premium right away. Thanks.

Of course you will, I can see by your signature you're an Apple addict.
