I’ll take 2 days of Free Apple TV plus. Gives you enough time to binge watch season or two. Shrinking and Silo would be on that list of must watches.

Hopefully, I qualify because I found buying a new 4K Apple TV did not trigger the free 3 months trial because I was only 1 and half months off another trial I got through LG. Apple even sent me a 30 day trial for Silo, but again did not qualify…

I'd caution you to not get all hot and bothered about this. It's most likely a preview of new shows and new seasons of existing shows.

January 4 and January 5 fall on a weekend, and the "see for yourself" wording does seem to suggest that a free watching period could be a possibility. Apple may share additional information in the days leading up to the "event" that gives us more insight.

Apple has never done a free all-you-can-watch Apple TV+ event, but it does offer free trials for new subscribers and it provides the first episodes of some shows so that potential customers can get a preview before choosing to subscribe.
I believe its not just Free Apple TV+ preview weekend but there is chance that there is also a huge hardware announcement: New Apple TV with A17 Pro for Apple Intelligence.

There’s been talk in industry that there is new Apple TV on horizon and free preview weekend is good time to announce new hardware also. (Since Apple Device is required for Apple TV+, IF you want enhanced experience)

Apple this week began teasing some kind of upcoming Apple TV+ surprise that's set to happen on January 4 and January 5, telling customers to "stay tuned" and "save the date" in social media posts.
My guess? The surprise is an Apple TV+ price increase. :p It's due for one.

It launched on Nov. 1, 2019, at $4.99/mo.
In Oct. 2022, Apple TV+ increased to $6.99/mo
In Oct. 2023, Apple TV+ increased to $9.99/mo
Oct. 2024? No price change.

Jan. 4, 2025... Apple TV+ price increases to $10.99/mo or $11.99/mo

Is the "surprise" that they're actually going to have good shows besides Ted Lasso (and maybe Severance)? Because that would be a huge shock for sure. :p
Apple TV+ has so many good shows though, like Invasion. Quite frankly the best alien invasion series ever released. You haven't lived until you've experienced the saga of Luuuuke and Sarah Mommy. I encourage everyone who sees this post to watch the show!

Shrinking is pretty funny!
I may be in the minority with Shrinking but, I found the writing to be overdone, trite, and an overuse of foul language, which really got on my nerves very quickly. I get people cuss but, when the script is filled with it from start to finish, such language detracts, in my opinion. I couldn't make it past the second episode.

All the subsequent episodes have been like this. I keep watching it since I like fast-paced comedies, but I might really be discovering my inner masochist.

They’d be smart to unlock the apps to just have access for 2 days without signing up for any free trial. Even on Roku without signing into your Apple account or anything. Just let it work as soon as you open it without having a credit card involved.

That’s how it used to be with HBO free weekends on cable back in the day. The channel just unlocked.

2 days free? I have been watching it free for over a year now. For some reason my account accepts free 3 months offers from neighbouring countries so… thanks Tim.

Apple TV+ sucks, there are only a handful of shows worth watching. Just cause pretentious critics like something, doesn't mean it's actually entertaining.

The only things I've enjoyed so far have been the Bestie Boys movie which was awesome, and Ted Lasso. Everything else I have given a shot has lot me pretty quickly for different reasons.

After reading some of the responses, I may give Silo and Masters of Air a shot as their premises and settings seem more to my liking.

I think Apple will show a preview of all the shows/films to come in 2025 and also give first 3 episodes as free access to everyone during the two days.

Waiting to see what new shows will be released. Hopefully there will not be a long wait for the next season of Silo and would be great if Severance gets a renewal.

Well, sort-of. I did not get a free trial with my M4 mini. They remembered I've already had a trial and, deep down in the small print, they mention that if you've already had such a trial, tough.

As an Apple TV+ user from ‘day one’ I’ve discovered several shows and films that I enjoyed. As others have mentioned, each one of us has our own tastes.
My favourites are:
Tehran and Hijack (great thrillers), Little Voice (cancelled, unfortunately), Foundation (better the second time around!), For all Mankind (though I haven’t finished watching it yet), The Banker, Finch and Greyhound (good films), Coda (very good film), Long Way Up (very specialised but worth the watch, plus the two earlier stories are also available), Acapulco (corny comedy — but worth every silly moment!), The Afterparty and Dr. Brain (quirky but watchable), Lessons in Chemistry (very good drama — with one very strange dog-centred episode!), Manhunt and Five days at Memorial (historical dramas — slow at times but very good).
I tried watching the more popular shows (mentioned numerous times in earlier posts) but found they’re not for me. Come to think of it, I’ve probably watched the start of most shows and films offered on Apple TV+!
Overall, there’s quite a bit of value for someone who wants to subscribe from time to time.

Full episodes available on YouTube or live streams on YouTube is the way to reach people if you want to do a “free taste.”

IMO, if it is a free trial, it should have run all next week not just the 4th and 5th. Wicked hits streaming on Wednesday, which is a missed opportunity to put free ATV+ content in front of a lot of viewers.

lol, no one outside of MacRumors forums is interested in any of the shows Apple has to offer.

Might have been something to do with them only making them as a fallback for when their business war with netflix and the like escalates. "look, you don't need to leave our ecosystem when all the other streaming services don't support our platforms (cough Apple Vision Pro cough)! you can just watch Our Stuff instead, because we're Apple, and you love giving us your money!"
