OMG! Robin Cook wrote a book about this very thing! There was a glucose monitoring app on the phone that evaluated people's sugar. It went wild and started killing off people!

Wait, it's stated that data will no longer we seen after the update, but it won't be erased. Does that not seem contradictory? I've been entering data into the app for a while, now what Apple?

Is it the case that the health app is reading 'miles' from the running/walking app that you are using? Perhaps you have setup 'miles' in the app you are using to read your walking/running distance.... just a thought...

I don't have a problem. Talk to the other guy :)

How are people capturing the data anyway? As of right now Healthkit is borderline useless as it doesn't even show any data at all half the time nor properly sync with other apps like it's supposed to.

I just use it for at a glance to see if it's working. For now, I've switched back to the Jawbone UP (blue) app and MyFitnessPal.

nope. Its same in UK and we use miles.

The UK uses a semi-metric system of units which iOS can't handle so it defaults to metric if you use the UK as your location.

A lot of apps can work with a mix of metric and imperial units through in-app settings but there doesn't seem to be a way of altering the default settings in the Health app. The Apple Maps app does give the option of Miles or Kilometers so it could be added to the Health app in a future update.

Metric system for the win.

Imperial system needs to be destroyed and forgotten.

Too bad moles isn't an Imperial measurement. Moles are based upon the metric system so I guess the metric system needs to be destroyed and forgotten.

mine doesn't and I'm in the UK. You don't really need to tell me about the place :D

If you live outside of the US please keep the metric system and use it to your heart's content. If you live in the US, the people have spoken and the metric system lost. 30 years ago. Time to get over it.

just a tiny reminder people shouldnt always be the ones deciding

Do you have any third party apps set up to feed data to the Health app for workouts and/or activity? Make sure they're up to date. AFAIK, walk and run data only come in from workouts in third party apps.

I have MapMyRide, Lark and WW Mobile connected to the Health App, and it's recording my walk and run data just fine.

Nope I have no third party apps for Heath

Apple need to shape up. The amount of bugs iOS 8 has had is unacceptable when the range of hardware is so small compared to other mobile OSs. I dunno what they're playing at, but Apple's software quality has undoubtedly declined.

we don't use kilograms, we use stones and pounds i.e. how heavy are you? 19stone 2 pounds

*not my actual weight :D

centimetres - check

kilometers? wtf is that :D

Like I said, we use a semi-metric & imperial mixture.

Most official measurements are now metric, goods are sold in grams and kilograms and by the metre but the road network still uses miles. And pints of beer in pubs but litres for soft drinks and other liquids sold in the supermarkets.

Doctors will use metric measurements in your health records but people still hang on to stones & pounds and feet & inches because it is what they are used to.

Apple has picked metric because it's almost our official measurement.

Issues Galore

The health app has ALL SORTS of issues for me. Doesn't sync with data properly (other apps have current data, health does not) as well as when I choose what I want to view about 2 days later all of it cuts itself off and dissappears. It's "super great" as somebody from apple would probably state... It needs some serious attention is what it needs. This OS, is "insanely buggy". At least on my iPhone 6+

:apple: Screen doesn't rotate half the time
:apple: Control Center doesnt want to come up
:apple: "Back Swipe" for Safari appears to work from the left half of the entire screen at times when im just trying to scroll around a webpage
:apple: Notification Center goes Bonkers (Comes down half way down the screen and stops)
:apple: iMessage Notifications appear but will not let me pull down sometimes to type a reply.
:apple: The keyboard freezes in place at times when entering a word or phrase that I set in the "autocorrect" area of settings.
:apple: All of the Health App Issues (Tons)
:apple: One issue occured where apps would not update.
:apple: General Lag to the OS (On the Plus anyhow...)
:apple: Etc Etc Etc... Hoping 8.1 comes soon with fixes.

I've notified apple of at least some of the bugs, if the others continue I'll report those as well...

Or even mixture of both for the same thing. No-one bats an eyelid when people ask the local builders merchants for an 8 ft x 4 ft sheet of 6mm MDF.
