How are people capturing the data anyway? As of right now Healthkit is borderline useless as it doesn't even show any data at all half the time nor properly sync with other apps like it's supposed to.
Is it the case that the health app is reading 'miles' from the running/walking app that you are using? Perhaps you have setup 'miles' in the app you are using to read your walking/running distance.... just a thought...
If you live outside of the US please keep the metric system and use it to your heart's content. If you live in the US, the people have spoken and the metric system lost. 30 years ago. Time to get over it.
I don't have a problem. Talk to the other guy![]()

aaaarghhhh... the world of MR can be confusing at times....
'other guy' can you read my post please - it's for you...
nope. Its same in UK and we use miles.
Metric system for the win.
Imperial system needs to be destroyed and forgotten.
The UK uses a semi-metric system of units which iOS can't handle so it defaults to metric if you use the UK as your location.
A lot of apps can work with a mix of metric and imperial units through in-app settings but there doesn't seem to be a way of altering the default settings in the Health app. The Apple Maps app does give the option of Miles or Kilometers so it could be added to the Health app in a future update.

Do you have any third party apps set up to feed data to the Health app for workouts and/or activity? Make sure they're up to date. AFAIK, walk and run data only come in from workouts in third party apps.
I have MapMyRide, Lark and WW Mobile connected to the Health App, and it's recording my walk and run data just fine.
mine doesn't and I'm in the UK. You don't really need to tell me about the place![]()
If your Health app is using Kilometres, Centimetres and Kilograms it has defaulted to metric.

we don't use kilograms, we use stones and pounds i.e. how heavy are you? 19stone 2 pounds
*not my actual weight
centimetres - check
kilometers? wtf is that![]()
Like I said, we use a semi-metric & imperial mixture.
Most official measurements are now metric, goods are sold in grams and kilograms and by the metre but the road network still uses miles. And pints of beer in pubs but litres for soft drinks and other liquids sold in the supermarkets.
Doctors will use metric measurements in your health records but people still hang on to stones & pounds and feet & inches because it is what they are used to.
Apple has picked metric because it's almost our official measurement.
