the action or process of recording sound or a performance for subsequent reproduction or broadcast.
Correct, if this was just a video recorder. Having the indicator “off” might just mean the user did not initiate a recording. Doesn’t mean video isn’t being processed for AI or other purposes, and they are going to have a tough time convincing people video doesn’t exist somewhere regardless of indicator light.

I'm sure like others, I'm sort of picky about the glasses I buy. It would be tough to choose from only 4 styles and colors. It might make sense if I didn't wear them every day.

Oof… there’s so many weird assumptions there it’s hard to formulate a sensical reply.
If I’m understanding… your fear is that Apple, arguably the ONLY tech company that doesn’t make the majority of their money being creepy & has spent 10’s of millions of dollars in ad campaigns touting privacy as a key differentiator, is going to put spy cameras that don’t even have an indicator light on a new niche device… literally making a 180° turn from everything they have ever said/shown are their core values? You know how bat guano crazy that sounds, right??
I doubt Apple will release Siri glasses with cameras capable of recording your environment. If they do, they will loose half of their privacy advocacy credibility. How close to the “spy” do you have to get to be able to spot indicator lights? I expect the cameras to be just sensors. Apple will have to forego competing with Meta for their privacy intrusion business.

This could be cool if dont right. Fears about being recorded are kinda overplayed here as everyone has a cell phone capable of doing this already. I hope it provides some cool features. 🙂
They are not overplayed. If someone points their phone me you while walking past me, I can be pretty sure I am being recorded. Not so with someone wearing glasses and looking at me.

Bro the people who are recording you pushed record on otter ai and shoved their phone into their pocket long before you set foot in the room with them! 🥴

Ok. But I for one am not going gladly into our dystopian future.
Do you.

I don't think an infinite amount of negative posts on every message board ever created are going to change things one little bit though. But maybe it makes you feel better, so there's that.

True. I guess internet forums generally lean negative.

But isn’t it a sign that many people don’t like the idea of Apple doing smart glasses?

Ditto Liquid Glass.

I’m very positive about the MBN.

My guess would be that a forum like this is probably much older than the target demographic for smart glasses. That opinion on this forum is the world passing us by (IMHO).

I think the negative sentiment toward liquid glass was just a forum being negative because... internet. I don't even notice liquid glass anymore and haven't heard a single person IRL even mention it. If you read the posts around here, you'd think people are throwing their iphones in the trash.

Never heard of “otter ai”.
I would not object to them recording a video of their pocket.
