Apple Thunderbolt Display Shipping Date

Hi guys, just wondering why the shipping time for the new display is so long? 6-8 weeks.

It's pretty much a preorder. I hope the estimates improve soon.

Mine ships September 19th, but I think Apple is usually quite safe on their estimates. Hopefully it will ship well before then.

They did the same thing with the last LED Display update. I suppose it is giving them time to build them.

Kinda the Apple equivalent of a pre-order I guess.

Even though the display has been announced and up for pre-order, looks like it's not actually going to leave the factories for weeks yet!

I ordered mine the day after the announcement and my estimated ship date is September 15th. I'm hoping to have it by the end of August.

Ordered Aug 1 and was given a ship date of Sept 27. I hope it accelerates. The Bookarc stand, keyboard and magic mouse are lonely and waiting!

A cynic would say that the 6-8 weeks gives the glue enough time to dry. That way, they cut down on the inevitable "yellow Thunderbolt screen" threads on Macrumors.

I ordered one on August 10th and the system is currently also saying it won't ship until September 27th.
