Any chance you have a cite for this claim? Or are you just making an assumption?

Face it, nobody cared about it the Patriot Act when Bush was in office, but it's Obama's fault now, just like how the national debt is suddenly Obama's fault.

That's not true. Lots of us cared about the Patriot Act, but we got run over by the right wingers and the complicit democrats who were too scared to stand up and do what was right. Now we're stuck with it.

About time us frogs realize the water is boiling.

It doesn't matter if you're independent, conservative, liberal, or anything else in between, you should be outraged at stand up for your right to personal privacy. Any government spying on its own citizens is big government at its best and we need to stand up together against this unwanted invasion in our private lives.

Any company which willingly goes along with terrible gov't regulations to build in gaping wide backdoors to everything in the servers, cell phones, devices, that can activate cams, microphones and track GPS by the second deserves to be sued and lose their consumer confidence.

I am happy there are people suing every company involved and the gov't.

For a company to go along with unconstitutional laws, or in some cases FCC regulations, without fighting them, they ought to get hit hard for selling their customers out.

It's not up to a company to decide what's unconstitutional or not. That's why we have an entire judicial branch. What's to stop a company from, say, paying sales tax because they just up and decide it's not constitutional to them, despite what the SCOTUS says?

Look at how the media times every story. The script is obviously planned in back rooms.

I am utterly disgusted by what is happening in our country and even more disgusted by all of the sheep who act like it's no big deal.

'What is happening' may occur naturally, but it's clearly being accelerated for some reason. If you're truly disgusted, then you're a bigger sheep than those who don't care because someone is up there playing with us. (My theory is that certain groups are trying to make the bible come true (artificially) and to transform religion. Hence I don't care, it's no big deal...)

Go ahead. Try and sue him. You don't know who he is or where he lives. And even if you knew, good luck finding a lawyer that would take your case.

I was making an example, gee, do people understand context?

Fine, but how outspoken was this yutz when it was George W. Bush's Presidential Surveillance Program (the same thing, minus needing a FISA warrant)? Not to mention:

- Iran Contra
- Iraq and "WMD"
- Secret torture programs
- Extraordinary rendition
- Illegally bugging the UN

Farjin' hypocrite.

Well... we disagree. That lawsuit does not "save us" it's only designed to generate lawsuit money and that's the part that is wrong. The class action suit goes after the wrong people... it's the government that's the problem... not the companies.

They're both a part in the problem. If someone asked you to do something illegal, and you did it, you cannot blame the person that asked you to do the activity in question when you are caught and expect no consequence.

----------

Doesn't matter - the "system" would never let him win anyway.

Yeah, he would most likely be assassinated. :(

Those are all stories that appeared in the news, sourced and verified.

They were all so evil!!!

The more I learn about this and Benghazi, the more this wreaks of Republican grand standing for the 2016 elections. I bought into the headlines, and was upset with everyone. However, after reading more about the facts the media isn't reporting, I'm disgusted with myself and conservatives. Even the IRS issue:

Darrell Issa Refuses To Release ‘Evidence’ That Obama Conspired With IRS To Target Tea Party

During his appearance on CNN, Issa called White House Press Secretary Jay Carney a “paid liar” and claimed that the spokesperson is “making up things about what happens in calling this local rogue,” leading several Republicans to speak out against his tactics. A week later, Cummings appeared on CNN to challenge the Chairman. “I want those transcripts to be released,” Cummings said. “I’m willing to come on your show next week with the Chairman with the transcripts if he agrees to do that. If he doesn’t, I’ll release them by the end of the week.”

Cummings insisted that the full interviews will demonstrate that “the White House was not involved in this,” pointing out that the Cincinnati IRS manager of the screening group, a career veteran at the agency who identified himself as Republican, told investigators that Washington did not direct the targeting. “I do not believe that the screening of these cases had anything to do other than consistency and identifying issues that needed to have further development,” the individual told investigators according to a portion of the transcripts released by the Democratic staff on the House Oversight Committee.

5 IRS agents interviewed. One, a conservative republican, denied any White House involvement or political motivation for screening tea party cases. Yep, sounds like release of that transcript would be reckless. Oh, and courts have already upheld absolute presidential immunity for liabilities official acts... Making a distinction between Presidential actions and personal ones. Courts have historically been reluctant to grant members of congress standing in suits against the executive branch... Something about the separation of powers. Someone needs to school those republicans about that pesky constitution!

This is conservative Republican grand standing in hopes of winning back everything they lost in the 2012 landslide elections. As for "The Patriot Act" and "NDAA", both parties are responsible, and this **** has been going on before most of us were born. The digital age merely changed how it's done. It's a slippery slope, one we should all fight and I don't agree with either acts, but most of this **** is coming from the Republican side. Rand Paul is making a stink and his party had their hands all over this years ago.

I can't stand this compensation society - grow up and get on with your life, and stop squandering it chasing "rights" - enjoy the life God has blessed you with - enjoy what you have, quit complaining about everything you don't have and what EVERYONE ELSE is doing wrong, and stop being so greedy!

Silly America.

It's not about money. Yeah, let's just give up. Let's "burn" the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. It won't change our lives or our children's lives.

You can if you're in the US military, or CiA. It's done routinely.

Oops, they forgot Monsanto on the list of defendants. :D
I wish there was a way they could get them on there, I think Monsanto is doing even more damage to us with GMOs than the government is with this policy at the moment.

to be sued, you have to break a law
which law was broken? not like the NSA did this on their own. where did they get the money?

Actually you don't need to break a law.
You need to be "at fault". Which is different.
A lawsuit is civil not criminal.
So breach of contract can get you sued.
Someone slipping and falling on a walkway in front of your house can get you sued.
Your tree falling on your neighbors house can get you sued.

None of those examples is criminal.

I said that what the government is doing is terrible and you said "Good thing George Washington didn't think like you..."

So all I can conclude is that you think George Washington would like what the government is doing.

In what other way could I read that?

To be fair, your post seemed to be saying one thing for about the first half and then appeared to be saying the opposite thing in its last half. Making your message easily misunderstood.

They're both a part in the problem.

Absolutely. People don't realize the corporate influence on governments and policy. For decades this has been happening, back to the beginning of "big oil" and their collusion with GM and state politicians that put L.A,'s electric mass transit system out of commission, leading us to the mess it is today. Google it, it's amazing that in the 1920-30's L.A. had the best electric mass transit system in the nation until GM and oil companies worked together with politicians in putting it out of commission, and tax dollars to build highways for buses and cars,

The terms "government" and "corporation" are practically one and the same. Democrat, Republican, they're both doing the same things, some vote for the "lesser of two evils", one party grandstands one election year, then the other the next. From campaign contributions to party influence and policies, this isn't a "democracy" and we are far from free, it's an illusion and a grand one. We're so programmed to buy, buy, buy, consume, consume, consume through our media, we don't even realize we're rats on a spinning wheel, greasing the industry and living in ignorant bliss. At least communism is upfront about it, here, they dress it up with apple pie and a side of ice cream.

That certainly did not work out too well for those soldiers whose defense was that they were simply following orders at the Nuremberg trials. And personally, I think that excuse should NOT work now either.

Great speech, would have been awsome back in 2001 when the Patriot Act was introduced, now it's too late. I'm not a democrat, but I'm not going to blame Obama administration for expanding on something introduced back in 2001.

Absolutely. Both parties have their hands in the cookie jar. I'm not on this "grab your guns and revolt" crap, but I do believe we all need to take more responsibility in our lives and be more active TOGETHER. We've been so caught up fighting each other, we've been divided and conquered for a long time. I believe it was Tom Brokaw who stated he had never seen the nation this polarized, even during the Vietnam War. That's some ****ed up ****.

So turn off Snookie, get off our armchairs, educate ourselves on the law, get information from as many sources as possible, avoid towing party lines, talk to your neighbors (in person), write your "elected" officials, research your spending habits and how companies you shop use your money and what politicians/policies they support and vote with your dollars, your head, your heart, and each other.

Bravo!

I am utterly disgusted by what is happening in our country and even more disgusted by all of the sheep who act like it's no big deal.

Agree. I don't know what it is about some of the apathetic people. I wonder if they just assume that everything will be roses because a democrat is in office.

Some of my friends have shrugged it off saying, "I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't care if they are mining my personal info."

I wonder if they are incapable of thinking clearly and thinking forward. First off, it doesn't matter if you think you are not doing anything wrong, because you are not the one spying on yourself. It matters if the people doing the spying think you are doing something wrong. And with the thousands upon thousands of lines of tax code in this country, I guarantee that most of you reading this are doing something wrong that the IRS could bust you on.

Secondly, it's a violation of our constitutional rights, the fourth amendment. And even if you US citizens who are reading this don't think it's a violation of our rights, why risk losing your rights? Once you lose them, even through imperceptible stages, you cannot get them back.

If you trust Obama and co. with your personal data, that's fine. Live with that. But what about the next guy in office? How do you know if you can trust him, or her? Why not stop the government spying now before it's too late?

We live in a republic, not a democracy. And with that, we as citizens in a republic have a responsibility to prevent our rights from being lost. Apathy is poison. If apathetic citizens lose their freedoms and rights, they deserve it.

That is not entirely true, this data mining is all still being done under the Patriot Act Title: II and warrants are still required. Unfortunately the warrants are obtained in secret courts who immediately approve all requests. They literally approve request 100% of the time and their rulings are classified.

Face it, nobody cared about it the Patriot Act when Bush was in office, but it's Obama's fault now, just like how the national debt is suddenly Obama's fault.

If their rulings are classified, how do you know their requests are always approved?

^This. After the face slap the GOP faced in the last two elections, they're running with every morsel they can in order to drive the country back to their side when their party started most of this crap. Doesn't mean it's right, doesn't give our current Pres. a pass, but don't come around now and ***** when you were all too happy when GWB raped your rights in the "War on Terror". Lord, the color alerts changed so much during those years people began color coordinating outfits to remember how afraid they should be that day.
