Hi, I've done all that, but I can't get to the backup point at all. After doing a restore with the IPSW version of IOS 17.0.2, after a while I get an error message 4013 and that's it. Just for info, I use a USB-C thunderbolt 3 data cable. As far as I read in the forums this is a downgrade problem especially with 17.1 beta 1.
1. Backup your iPhone.
2. Do all steps that i wrote.

Is the overheating issue resolved for most? I still get random heating on the back where I would guess the processor is. Usually in the morning after I take it off the charger and start using it. If I restart the phone it usually goes away. I also experience overheating when using the wireless charger in my BMW. Doesn’t overheat when using the wireless charger on my night stand. Anyone else still experiencing weird overheating issues not resolved by the latest updates?

It has not been resolved, and now with the leaked revised parts from 16 to mitigate heat, it appears it may never be fully resolved until the new iPhone 16 hardware is released. I think the iPhone 15 pro max is just going to be a warm to hot phone due to the design.

On my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I can run all kinds of benchmarks stressing out the A17 Pro or play video games and it has never overheated at all.

I even tried to replicate the overheating problem someone on MacRumors had using the exact same MagSafe charger he used, mine didn’t overheat at all.

Looks like it is a case of people with faulty phones who didn’t exchange it within the 14-day return period.

Since I've owned it my 15 Pro Max it's hardly got warm, let alone overheated.
That’s the thing, it doesn’t overheat (get warm) at all on certain tasks, videos, games etc. first a phone call would completely overheat it, now that was fixed in 17.0.3, 17.1 introduced excessive heat using camera outdoors in warmer climate causing screen to instantly dim. Maybe that will be fixed in 17.2 idk. I’m just saying the phone appears to run warmer overall than previous phones and the internal design changes on 16 speak to that as well

My last iPhone would overheat charging and doing video conferences at the same time on anything but a cold day, and this doesn't do that at all, so something is working

Guess I’ve been lucky until now, sure I’ve noticed warmth, but never as often as this, it’s the camera app that is “problem” for me currently, 17.1 100% introduced it, so hopeful it will be corrected in software.

Been searching for recent threads on the 15 Pro overheating, and I can't seem to find a general consensus on whether a software update fixed the root cause. In the market for a new 15 Pro for my wife, but when we went to an Apple Store to see the colors in person, literally every 15 Pro display was extremely hot to the touch. I would give them a pass if it was from the wireless charging, but all 4 models were on the same charging stand...

I didn't check the iOS version on the display models, but I would assume Apple would want all stores to update ASAP if they believed it was a true fix. Should the 15 Pro be skipped if a new phone this year is not needed? Or is the overheating issue really just a small minority and the new phone is probably fine for normal daily use?

Here’s what I’ve personally experienced as far as software and heat. 17.0.3 addressed an issue where my phone was overheating during phone calls, 17.1 introduced an issue where my phone began overheating using the camera, 17.1.2 seemed to help the camera heat, and camera heat appears to remain improved after 17.2. There may be more issues, hard to say, it’s also much cooler outside now too.
