Put your iPhone in your pocket and only use it to send and receive calls. I bet you get close to what you want. 225 hours standby 8 solid hours of talk time.

But if you don't need a smartphone for anything other than calls, then why would you ever buy one at all? Regardless of its battery life?

Or were you suggesting that current smartphone manufacturers need to defy physics before you'll buy one?

In a way its the fault of consumers.

They have told the phone makers a day is ok, and they will buy phones than only last 1 day, so that's what they make.

And may have said, even with Apple. Make the phone a few mm thicker please so we can have better battery life. But they won't listen and won't do it as too many are willing to accept the daily charge

they can put a 1080p HD display or at least the 720p display, more responsive sensors so that you can use the mobile with gloves, etc.

They wouldn't move to 1920x1080, because that's 1.69x the width and height of the current 1136x640 display.

If they were going to increase the display, they'd double it. 2272x1280.

They wouldn't tell their developers to multiply their assets 169% just to stay in line with HD standards.

Hmm, just thought of buying the new Air, but that could be worth waiting (for at least another year again :().

Do Sharp own the IGZO tech or are they just making it?

Is anyone else in the running to supply Apple with IGZO stuff?
Could Samsung do it?
