Apple today updated its investor relations page to announce that it will share its earnings for the second fiscal quarter (first calendar quarter) of 2017 on Tuesday, May 2.

The earnings release will provide a look at sales of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus following Apple's record earnings results during the first quarter of 2017. It will also provide some insight into sales of the new MacBook Pro, which came out in October.

Apple's guidance for the second quarter of fiscal 2017 includes expected revenue of $51.5 to $53.5 billion and gross margin between 38 and 39 percent.

The quarterly earnings statement will be released at 1:30 PM Pacific/4:30 PM Eastern, with a conference call to discuss the report taking place at 2:00 PM Pacific/5:00 PM Eastern. MacRumors will provide coverage of both the earnings release and conference call on May 2.

After the recent trends with the stock rising and over all growth these last six months, I think the overall reports will be positive behind the earnings call for Apple.

There's three things going on here.
Apple's fortunes
Stockholders' fortunes
Mac users's fortunes

I'll announce Mac users fortunes right now: SOL.

This seems awfully pessimistic. Worst case scenario, ya jump out of Apple's ecosystem and buy something else. Annoying, sure, but there are other options. Not exactly SOL.

As always, I hope things go well as far as analysts are concerned. And I hope the dividend increase is six cents (or more). My nest egg is 90% AAPL. Egg has gotten pretty large. :)

Even if Tim Cook generated a 500bn $ quater, he will never be able to come up with a new, original idea - a new product that truely excites and fascinates people.

"We have the strongest watch band pipeline that we've ever had and we're really confident about the things in it, but as usual we're not going to talk about what's in it."

May 1st Apple will leak info on new Mac's, thereby causing expected profit to skyrocket. Fake news will help offset the losses of Q2.

(Seriously) Consider diversifying. That's far too much risk in a single stock- even this stock. Consider the other old saying about eggs: "don't put all of your eggs in one basket."

Yeah, I know. Sanity would say that, but I keep living on the edge. Even if it drops 50% tomorrow I'll still be doing really well. Of course, going up 50% would mean retirement tomorrow. Hoping for the latter.

Anyone expecting Apple will announce the incredible new Mac Pros on the conference call on May 2?
Apple does not announce new products during their conference calls with financial analysts.

Nor does Apple do this kind of stock price manipulation. It's frowned upon by the SEC and would make Apple a target for shareholder lawsuits.

The iphone, iPod, and macbook air were not original ideas, just so you know.

I was pretty excited by the Airpods. Just saying.

I was going to say the same thing. You beat me to it. They may "only" be earphones, but they are one of the best apple purchases dollar for dollar that I've ever made.

And - I use my Apple Watch daily. Still work to be done there, but doesn't detract from its utility in my book.
