Apple today updated its investor relations page to announce that it will share earnings results for the fourth fiscal quarter (third calendar quarter) of 2022 on Thursday, October 27.

Apple-Logo-Cash-Feature-Blue.jpg

The fourth quarter earnings call will provide insight into sales of the new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, as well as the new Apple Watches. Apple's iPhones went on sale a week earlier this year and will have a more significant impact on the company's fourth quarter earnings results than the iPhone 13 in Q4 2021.

Apple declined to issue guidance for the fourth quarter of 2022, as it has done for the last two years. In the year-ago quarter, Apple posted revenue of $83.4 billion and net quarterly profit of $20.6 billion.

The quarterly earnings statement will be released at 1:30 PM Pacific/4:30 PM Eastern, with a conference call to discuss the report taking place at 2:00 PM Pacific/5:00 PM Eastern. MacRumors will provide coverage of both the earnings release and conference call on October 27.

That’s actually a clever economic trick by Apple. Assign the launch of your main physical product and bacon bringer to a time when spreadsheets are important for the company’s projected future. Having a window of about a month before/after a financial quarter ends gives Apple the ability to adjust those numbers in a way that favours the impression they want to give to the public & investors (growth or stagnation)

The reference being, for clarification, that if it’s already a great quarter, delay iPhone launch till just after quarter finishes, pushing those sales into next quarter’s numbers. If it’s a disappointing quarter release iPhone earlier to get this quarter’s numbers up. Always give impression to investors that you’re in continual growth that’s more consistent than the reality (Blue chip status)

This is an instrument Apple plays perfectly

We all know it will be usual dribble:
- Apple is where people who are passionate come to do their best work.
- Leave the planet better than we found it
- Make a dent in the universe
- Enriching lives
- Can't talk about future products, but we are excited about the future.
- We continue to be surprised by the demand for iPhone 14 Pro Max and we doing best to make as many as we can for our customers.
- Buy your mom an iPhone.

The calls, games, photos, famine, payments, the price per paper clip. We pick that rabbit out of the hat while everybody sits out there wondering how the hell we did it. Now you're not naive enough to think we're living in a democracy, are you buddy? We're letting them pay for the priveledge of beta testing our products Bud. It's the App Store market.

Thanks to the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra. Revenue and Net quarterly profit will be off the roof.
So you think profit and revenue are going to decline? I ask because when something goes off a roof, it usually falls (unless it has wings and can fly, or it drinks a Red Bull).

Now, if you think profit and revenue are going to be up, then the expression is "through the roof" :)

Going to beat expectations again
There are so many analysts with very granular assessments of every product along with the strict guidance that the company reports, that there are few real surprises these days during reporting. Usually slightly better than consensus has been the most common in the most recent quarters.

"This year we intentionally withheld updates from our mainstream iPhone to see how much people are truly willing to spend on a device, and the news is all good."

What?

They’d barely will factor in this quarter. Watch 14 Pro and 14 all less than 2 weeks on sales.

This is the 13/13 mini/13 Pro/13 Pro Max, Watch 7 series, MBP 14/16”, MBA M1/M2, Mac Mini M1/Intel, and iMac M1’s.

Next quarter we’ll see what S8/S8 Watch/Ultra respectively and 14/14Pro/14 Pro Max and some 14 Plus showing up in revenue and profits.

Love the enthusiasm still.

Nicely done. And most likely 85% accurate and may miss a few other common statements that is typical. Again well done

Well sure, you can benefit from releasing iPhone early, because many "analysts" are not able to think for themselves really. So they do a Year over Year YOY comparison and will say this year's quarter is better than last year.

In the long run, no amount of basic accounting savvy can hide the fact that Apple is a 2.4 Trillion Dollar market cap company. They musta did something right, or is it just tricky "impressions"?

Yes, yes, all of those tricks are legal and common and everyone who pays taxes does it - ALL companies do it - ALL good accountants will recommend you do it. If you don't, you don't make enough for it to matter to your tax bill. If you are a small company, you might ask your accountant if you should buy new computers before or after the year end date of your company books. If you made a lot of profit, you can offset that profit by expenses in the current year or maybe put off those expenses until the next year if you are not paying much taxes this year.

What, pray tell, is wrong with that?

Well over a billion dollars a day is added to the revenue for this quarter starting from when they took orders for all the new products - iPhones, AirPods, Apple Watch. Big Bucks. It helps. Especially to the sensitive pseudo-smart "analysts"

Stock market had a conniption over Apple's comment a couple quarters ago when they said they could be headwinds of 1 - 8 Billion, when it really didn't matter too much - they still beat!

Some analyst complained that there was 3 more working days in a quarter one time :). Yah, people will make up negative stories to influence stock market suits who really know more about other companies and really don't get it with Apple.

Look at Apple growth rate - it's double digits in every sector practically except maybe Mac or iPad. Services - double digit growth. iPhone I think double digit growth. Etc etc.

It bugs me when some rumour that iPhone 14 production is being cut that AAPL stock drops nearly 5 bucks - particularly when every single year in the last 10 years, Apple turns out to have sold a ton of iPhones!
